PRESS RELEASE: Shred! 2

Pumped BMX meets Tony Hawks... I'm the first to admit it’s a bold claim, but that was the gameplay vibe I had in mind when I began work on Shred! 2 almost two years ago now.

I wanted to create a game with the accessibility and flow of Pumped BMX with an advanced combo system like Tony Hawks in an attempt to satisfy the demand for a mountain bike game that does justice to our beloved sport.

As a solo developer, the game has been a massive gamble of time and personal finance. But It’s been a blast! I’ve been privileged enough to pursue my dream developing what I hope is a fun riding substitute for those times where it's not possible to get out on the trails!

Ride as Sam Pilgrim, and use the advanced trick system to bust out insane combos in over 40 levels!

bigquotesWhen Sam Pilgrim agreed to be involved and stated, “This sounds like the dream!!!” I knew I’d found the man for the job!Alex Johnson - Shred! 2 Creator

With no riding style off limits and infectious enthusiasm, Sam has inspired not only his in-game character’s crazy bag of tricks, but the level design, themes and overall audio / visual aesthetic.

Reference was taken from Sam's popular YouTube channel to reproduce authentic looking tricks.

Choose a Haibike hardtail or trail bike and go "Shred!"

The game plays in a “2.5D” game world, giving the player an illusion of a 3D game world but without the need for additional control complexity.

Each level is inspired by real-world MTB destinations, events and famous video segments!

The game is available now on iOS, Android and PC & Mac via Steam.

Work has already begun porting the game to Nintendo Switch and I am awaiting Dev Kits from Microsoft, Sony for Xbox One and PS4! I expect the first console release to ship toward the end of the year.

Big shout out to Sam Pilgrim, Halo Wheels, Haibike and Pinkbike for their support with marketing - you’ve given me the confidence to see this thing through to the end!

If you haven't already downloaded this game, we would highly recommend NOT doing so. All of our staff now spend 3 times longer in the toilet. Smile

Best MTB game ever. Even better than Bike Unchained. btw Bike Unchained 2 is total crap.

Yeah Bike Unchained 2 is total ass haha

Whaaaat. I like Bike Unchained 2 more than 1. #unpopularopinion

A version of this with ME starring would be a fun game, too. Casing and stacking into everything, breaking your bike, tearing your clothes, and tending to cuts and bruises.

I can see it now: Bent Wheel + Sutures Combo 1500 Points!

Yes, and don't forget the ever popular pushing your trail bike up the hill (200 pts) because you had one too many donuts.

The no footed cancan has the legs reversed. Had no one actually looked at the picture??

Hey I'm the developer...Ok, I know, I know you got me! Maybe its not the best example but I was pushed for time and the reference I used for the more "accurate" looking tricks were taken of Sam by some photographer or other who would have probably tried to sue my ass for using his / her images in the article. Still...I used Sam's youtube channel loads and it was awsome for reference Smile

Below a series of images showing a 3D character doing a trick in a completely different manner to the real life picture...

Completely different is a bit of a stretch, but the legs being wrong is (irrationally) irritating me.

 E-games sponsored by e-bikes

@the-lorax what are you talking about ? I don't see any e-bike in those in game screenshots.
  • 2 0
@opignonlibre: Haibike is one of the main sponsors....
  • 1 0
@the-lorax: haibike is not an e-bike only brand.
  • 1 0
@opignonlibre: I challenge you to fine ONE bike on their website that is not an e-bike. Their tagline/slogan is "We are ePerformance"...

As far as I know, they make one non-e-bike and it's a dirt jump bike custom for Sam Pilgrim that's not publicly available.

@the-lorax: They have two ranges of hardtail on their catalog, Hardseven and Hardnine + a fitness line. Granted they are entry level sub 1000€ bikes but they are regular bikes.

It is possible they don't show up in a US website though, I don't know but I see them on the french speaking version.

I wish I saw this before I bought this game. This game needs a lot of work. Don't get me wrong I lkike it but to many things just don't work! Thank god Steam offers refunds. I'll just stay with Descenders for now. It has some stunts and down hill racing and things work.

Does no one realize that he just did a corkscrew-720 off a flight of stairs? Hot diggity dog

Really hoping Matt MacDuff got some credit for course design in this game........lots of "Builder" ramps in that trailer.
  • 3 1
 No ebikes?
  • 3 2
He's doing all these stunts without proper protection?

a helmet and knee pads is all you need

You're missing a huge payday by not having BMXs in this. So many people who have been craving a BMX game since Dave Mirra 2. Few BMX models and a few street plazas, license to print money.

I refuse Haibike in reallife and now they are trying to catch me in the virtual world, no way. Ugly E Mopeds.

Hell yeah The switch version please
  • 1 1
Love how reference was taken from Sam's insta - and then they botch it by switching the legs on his can-can haha.
