Throughout the first week in July the team trucks started to roll into Lenzerheide, helping the small mountain village in the Swiss alps get into racing mood. The fast and loose track had not seen rain for a while and riders were frothing to get practice underway and their wheels in the dirt as they got up the hill for track walk.

Steve Peat, on the other hand, was busy building his "cowbike" and smiling as usual. We are going to miss this legend on track next year. Thank you for the tight racing and the great stories!

Once practice was underway there was no holding back. Bluebird skies and the Lenzerheide sunshine welcomed the riders with open arms.

The rock garden and "the plunge" left riders worrying about their line choices and demanded more than one victim. But in general practice days were filled with action packed riding on a bikepark track that got rougher and rougher towards race day.

The usual suspects were throwing down a show. Eddy Masters went over the bars in a spectacular way (Have a look for yourselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZgfX0DjofQ), Fairclough, Bryceland, and Hart embodied the #sideways lifestyle and Brook Macdonald opened the flood gates tripling the big booter on the high-speed section of the track.

On Saturday the fans made the pilgrimage into the mountains and the good times escalated quickly around the normally quiet lake of Lenzerheide. Over the whole weekend, 18 000 fans made the way to Lenzerheide to see the world's fastest racers battling it out for the win. The Santa Cruz corner with its view of the finish line was the place to be for all the hardcore hecklers.

The fans definitely got their money worth, as they experienced exciting racing and witnessed Danny Hart taking hist first ever World Cup win. His win in Lenzerheide triggered his performance for the rest of the season which gave Aaron Gwin a run for his money.

On Sunday the Cross Country bandits took over the mountain and powered through the heat. The challenging course with it's technical sections and multiple possibilities to overtake was a great stage for thrilling racing. In the end, Jenny Rissveds took her first win in the elite category and local hero Nino Schurter won his home race. A clean sweep for Scott/Odlo!

The dust has settled for a few months now but 2017 is approaching in big steps. And especially with all the team rumors going on, we can't wait for the World Cup circuit to return to our little Swiss mountain village to turn on a show!

Cheers, and see you next year.

Lets hope its the last year seriously ...... bikeparky tracks for a DH WC round are NOT appropriated!!!! Riders want ROUGH stuff that is hard to ride... VERBIER FOR 2018 come on !

Agreed. We have too many gnarly trails for Straightline to represent Swiss DH. BUT, Lenzerheide and the kanton of Graubunden have single handely made MTBing more acceptable here. Only a few short years ago there were maybe 5 chairlifts or gongolas in all of Switzerland that would allow you to bring your bike. So they DO deserve it.

I thought Lenzerheide 2017 would be XC only. Good to see DH is here also.
