Pinkbike Poll: Is it the Rider or the Bike?
If you're a good enough rider, then it's the rider. If you're more like me, it's DEF the bike!! My bike is DEF better at downhilling than I am, but with an Atherton on board, my bike WILL go a hell of a lot faster than I can get it going...............................for now! ;-)

Pinkbike Poll: Are Trails Becoming Too Manicured?
At Hamsterley last weekend --- top red route is a great flow track, and I suppose is meant for everyone who can ride -- hence it being a red route. I would have no probs doing that on my hardtail. The (orange) DH track is something else though - and def my favourite. If the DH was the only track there, the majority would not be able to ride it. The smoother red routes open up the sport to many more riders/machines, and are still great fun for a blast down on whatever bike you are on. Horses for courses I suppose -- but smoothing-out a full on DH track is just sacrilege!!!!

Video: Snowdonia, Wales Mountain Bike Guide
:-( .....there is a railway all the way to the summit -- £20per person, also only starts at 9am..... and no 'bulky luggage' allowed. They mention group bookings being available but serioulsy doubt they will want to accommodate DH riders. One bloke did drive his 4x4 right to the top last year --- he left it there and eventually was tracked down and prosecuted, so maybe not the best idea to use your own vehicle...... Maybe a group of riders, take a quad up the tracks to the top .......... or get up early enough to walk to the top and set off back down before all the walkers start arriving

I though there was a mini train going most of the way up Snowdon? Do they not let you on with a bike? Or do they not start running early enough in the morning to avoid the walkers?

Video: Intense's Jeff Steber at Sea Otter
Just getting in to downhill and am aware of the 29er option, and starting noticing more and more 650Bs. I have read the comments above re the advantages of bigger wheel sizes. Could someone please explain the disadvantages of the bigger wheel sizes?? I assume that there are some, otherwise there would be no discussion?!?! Cheers.
