No E-Bikes in Oregon, apparently. They don't care how we do it in CA. Good for them.

ebikes are not allowed on any state park or state recreation land(outside of OHV) in the state of Oregon. it's pretty nice!

The Ashland Mountain Challenge trails are all in the Siskyou Mountains district of the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest, so it's most likely a USFS restriction on motorized access. If the race were on moto-legal trails then e-bikes would be in as well.

There aren't any moto-legal trails on Mt. Ashland that I'm aware of, but you can find them all over Oregon, even in places you don't expect (such as Lawler in the Hardesty network near Oakridge). Usually the only way to know is to see the signs at the trailheads because there's not much accurate information on websites about it.

@chrisclifford: Is Snow Summit an Option? Vail Lake also hosts pretty good Enduro races, And they even let them cut new trails out there.

@Three6ty: true, I forgot about Snow Summit. I grew up in the Bay Area, so China Peak and Mammoth I always considered SoCal. They're closer to LA than SF

@Three6ty: we raced summit last year and honestly it was the worst race of the season. Terrible trail choices (dickies????) ruined it. There is definitely potential to run a good race at summit, but making it majority off resort trails, like they have done, isnt the answer. They need to close the trails down for racing just like every other venue does.

@Three6ty: this is coming from someone who gets a summit annual pass each season. Last year we also had a race in Mexico so they do try to keep it balanced with where the venues are.

Austink- thanks for the info. I’m not sure how many different race runs you need to run a good overall race, but the potential is there!
In the end at least we do have enough venues in CA to make it happen and in the end that is all that matters.
