Osprey Packs, BC and KR Enduro Series to partner with IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew for 2016 Series. Mountain biking as an industry is evolving at an exponential rate. It’s a very thrilling time to be a mountain biker as commercial companies, events, tourism and adventurer’s are all realizing the power of two wheels. The real power behind the love of mountain biking, is the hard working individuals, community interest groups (cycling clubs) and passionate riders that spend countless hours investing in trails for everyone to ride their bikes on. The Osprey BC & KR Enduro Series (BCES) recognize this and have contributed to date more than $20,000 to local trail clubs and working groups.

Penticton has been a favourite spot among riders, it is the result of some very hard working, creative and passionate community members.

Whether it’s land access through relationship building, sustainable trail building, collaboration between key stakeholders or a simple high-five, the BCES has always strived to contribute back to the communities that welcome riders with buff singletrack. It’s been a part of their vision for a long time to continually develop these collaborative efforts in order to secure mountain biking in these host communities as a viable option for locals and tourists alike. As such the Osprey BC & KR Enduro Series would like to formally announce a partnership with the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Canada’s, Trail Care Crew.

The goal of the partnership is to support host communities of the Osprey BC Enduro Series by offering free trail education and trail building workshops focused on maintaining and improving the high quality trails ridden during the event. The Osprey BC Enduro Series is a popular and growing event that hosts races in many different mountain bike communities across BC and parts of Alberta. Part of the success of the event is due in large part to the incredible network of trails that BC has to offer, alongside the willingness and eagerness of host communities to invite the event into their town.

In order to ensure the continued sustainability of the event, we want to empower host communities to be effective in their efforts when building and maintaining quality singletrack trail, and while mitigating the impacts created by the events. Up until this point, this has been accomplished by a generous financial contribution from the BC Enduro Series directly to the club. In addition to financial support, the BCES is excited to provide an additional resource to host communities of the Osprey BC Enduro Series, through its partnership with IMBA Canada. For 2016, IMBA Canada will hold a Trail Care Crew workshop alongside the race event at a select number of races. Attendees of Trail Care Crew workshop will even have an opportunity to win a free BCES entry!

Missing from Press Release: All races will be held on flow trails moving forward.

*Sigh, I miss the days when IMBA focused on access issues, instead of trying to push their trailbuilding and trailbuilding standards on the world.

The exception must be the Sun Peaks Enduro, there's all of two flow trails there

This partnership isn't going to effect the difficulty of the trails for the BCES. I foresee it encouraging trail options as trails which are not built sustainably will be able to get the attention deserved and if needed, protected. The last thing anyone wants is to ruin a trail for one day of racing. We want to empower locals, have adventures on our bikes and keep it zesty! The goal of the partnership is to give back to communities. I don't know if you are aware, but IMBA Canada has separated from IMBA USA and they are looking to support access and are helping doing this through empowering local champions. The political landscape is changing and I'm looking forward to hanging a wheelie alongside it! See you at the races! -Ted
