@VorsprungSuspension: Very interesting thanks, that kind-of explains why I can feel and describe the difference between shocks' damping a lot better than I can for forks. And why I like to "ride the damping" more on a good quality shock like an Ohlins or EXT (I haven't tried yours).

So is it an intermediate tyre, like the HR3? Or is it best in dry-ish conditions?

Formula MOD shock has a modular compression tune system that you can easily change at home by fitting a different widget.
It's a very good shock as well, and often available quite cheap.

Canyon's New Spectral:ON eMTB Ticks a Lot of Boxes
Bit weird staggering the model launches. The 7 or 8 are likely to be a better proposition for a lot of us, as Canyon usually spec their lower models pretty smartly with "good enough" kit even on the lower models.

@boozed: it feels like Vorsprung are focused more on making the spring side of forks better, with either air or coil solutions. My (much less experienced) view is that a lot of stock dampers usually turn out to be fine once the spring side is sorted - either with a coil or with a tweak to the air spring like the Luftkappe or the TruTune that I have in my Zeb.
I'm sure they'd still sell plenty of drop in dampers though.
