Review: 1 Year on Cane Creek's Ultra-Light Titanium eeWings Cranks
I have some. I can't argue with anyone about the price, but I love them. When we got the first set in at Cotic it was like the suitcase opening scene in Pulp Fiction.
To paraphrase Ferris Bueller, "I LOVE owning them. They are SO choice. If you have the means I highly recommend picking some up"

Cotic Launches SolarisMAX Steel 29er Hardtail
@whambat: We haven't weighed a Gold Eagle build yet. The Silver Hope bike we left with Singletrack magazine was 29.5lb with platform spd pedals on it so around 28.5lb without pedals. Eagle and other gold build upgrades woukd save about another half pound. That was with tough casing rear WTB tyre light front, setup tubeless.

It's the shortest we can sensibly make them with reasonable clearance to everything (seat tube/front mech included, which is a consideration on big tyre 29ers). I don't want to use a bent seat tube because it adds loads of weight on a steel frame because it has to be thick in the middle where you make the bend. Also, it didn't detract from the ride and in some ways helped. The Solaris has always had stays at 442mm, I just had to go a couple of mm longer this time because of the big volume 29er tyres I know are coming. Actually the longer front end made the weight balance better than it used to be. The rear end balances the front end, makes it an amazing technical climber, and the Longshot geometry needing really short stems means the turn in is still responsive.

Tyres are 2.3, but they're a LOT of clearance in these frames so probably why they might look a little small. 29 x 2.5 and 27.5 x 2.8 or 3.0 are options on the builds.

Sorry you've found that frustrating, but gordon2456 hits the nail on the head there. It's more consistent with the static geometry numbers people are used to seeing on FS bikes. I also feel that giving ride height numbers on a hardtail can give an experienced rider a better feel for how the bike might handle as it's the numbers they will actually experience. As a rule of thumb, a 120mm fork static will knock the angles back by 1.5 deg and lift the BB by 10mm. Hope that helps.

Interesting with all the SS requests. We don't make one anymore because we NEVER get asked for them. We used to do the Simple, which was a track end version of the Solaris, but the demand was so low we ended up selling them off so we stopped. Genuinely interested if SS is still fairly big over the pond. Let me know!

Agreed. Particularly on a 29er. The longer back end balances out the bike too.
