Video: California Coastal Rippin in 'This Is Pacifica'

by Paul Jackson

Last summer, my buddies and I set out to capture the incredible vibe of the town I call home, Pacifica, California. Just 20 minutes south of San Francisco, this place is a whole different world with an epic mountain bike scene and some of the best trails in the Bay Area. We planned a four day shoot and tried to get the best shots on each trail. While there is always more that we wish we could have captured, we think we did a pretty rad job of showing the variety of epic riding here in town. From flowy berms to chunky DH to big jump sets, this place has it all. This is Pacifica.

the only thing gnarlier than the riding in pacifica, is the poison oak! shit is some mutant strain or something and could easily be classified as a bioweapon.

I grew up not far away and definitely was exposed to poison oak a fair bit but I was one of the lucky ones that just didn't get it.

I'm 38 and the first time I ever actually had a reaction to poison oak was from a ride out there last year and it was so bad I had get prescription medication for it. That shit really is on a level all its own.

P-Town! Back in the day people would complain about the coverage but I think you did a good job and didn't blow up the lesser-known bits. So many people have put so much work in over the years - hat's off to them.

Aw yeeeee! Perfect balance of showcasing an underrated zone without blowin it up too hard. Well done. Hats off to the builders for their hard work and dedication.

Aaaand now our local trails are ruined..

Not because of blowing it up or anything; just because now it'll be clear how slow I'm riding them..

Nice Edit!

Grew up in San Jose and lived in Santa Cruz for 5 years. Never made it out to Pacifica, I knew it was a mistake.

There are so many goods around the Bay, it's easy to not venture out. I'm rectifying that by hitting Demo tomorrow.

A walk down memory lane! This was a Santa Cruz Bikes test spot WAAAAAYYY back in the day. The Bullit ruled there, I remember climbing montara road with 2 seatposts and seats, one cut down for descents! Place has come a long ass way - KUDOS to the trail developers, and yeah to echo Mtbdialed - Zombie Apocalypse Level Poison Oak!

 1) I busted myself out for watching this at work when I let out a "DAAAAMN!!" (at the superman)
2) I watched that 360 step up at the end three times and I will be back for more.
3) My favorite edits are the ones that make me want to go ride, this checks that box for me.

That place is such a treasure, shout out to all the diggers and builders that have made it what it is today.

My riding is still as mediocre as it gets but I gained a whole lot of skill and confidence from riding out there even though I may never hit the ladder drop or get past #1 on treeline, it is always a treat to watch others throw down on it!
