Trek Isn't Hiding Their 32" Cross-Country Bikes

@totaltoads: mullet is pretty good for MTB, arguably the best size compromise unless you only ride smooth and gradual trails. I wonder if we will see 32/29 mullets for trail/enduro bikes. Nothing wrong with that, and 32/32 is fine too ... we are just pedaling around!

Frankly much of the industry is now selling motored-cycles, 2027 models are pushing 150nM/1500Watts, and I cannot wait until half of the industry goes belly up.

@Marquis: Actually at this point 10+ years old bikes work wonderfully. My IBIS HD3 mullet, with 148 front Formula Selva Coil, 150 travel in the rear, and topping the scale at 28 pounds and change (the frame is 6.2 pounds with DVO shock), is a really very good bike ...

30.5" Wheels to Be Raced at the 2026 Enduro World Championships

You can mullet pretty much anything playing with the front travel, but a jump of 3", 29 to 32, is a lot. So an option of 30.5 seems like a good thing. And a change in wheel size will only effect future bike offerings ... not the one you have. Might even save you money. One of the main reasons I still have a 2015 Ibis HD3 is because for many years I refused to toss away my 142 DT 1200 carbon wheel.

Given how porky carbon frames have become this might be a very nice option ,,, if you are into a 120 travel bike ... it is also nice that you get a $100 discount, as a first time costumer, if you pre-order the $6,000 frame ...

Incredible work! And as a side issue the weight, 17.5 Kg, brings home how out of wack is the the weight of current boutique trail bikes. A Yeti LT weights 15Kg, an Atherton 150 takes the crown at 16.7Kg. That is a 200 mm gearbox driven down hill bike built in steel and aluminum vs $4,600-5,500 140-150 mm carbon frames at 140-150 mm travel!

Most of the roll over advantage comes from the front. All motocross motorcycles are actually "mullets".

Nice bike! A bit hard to believe that a 32" in front would not be noticed unless you were told there was actually one in front, and unclear what it is meant by a "different" roll-over. But anyway, Starling has had a mullet in production for the. last six months https://theradavist.com/starling-big-bird-32er. We'll see where this is going but I kind of betting the industry will end up in the 32/29 configuration.
