steadicam's do have springs in them, the difference is, they have an iso elastic arm, which uses both springs and pulleys, this allows the springs to absorb the motion, and not bounce back

the idea is to have springs attached to pivoting mounts, also connecting the two octagons, with 1 spring on each side of the octagon
