@bman33: oh so were you there at the briefing for staff? What about the briefing for competitors? What about announcements for spectators? See here is the thing, I don't need to "support" a "demand" in this. Having been part of planning and execution of events this size, and ones that cater to thousands a day, we always have in depth briefings weather briefings with every reasonable scenario planned and briefs to all staff so this exact scenario doesn't happen. The fact is the weather was absolutely forecast, and every outlet from the National Weather Service, to local news, to county and city level emergency alerts were giving warnings. Especially since this area has been hammered by winter storms we have had from after Christmas on to this spring storm people have been extra cautious. So, sorry, I guess you aren't the one familiar with event planning or storms in east Tennessee. Because from the liability factor, to common sense, to just simple caution for things going worse in a declared winter storm, one step below a blizzard, you never doubt that things will get worse in a situation like that and you freaking plan for it. @bman33: so when the national weather service issues a winter storm warning about 12 hours in advance and local weather has said it's coming days in advance the organizers shouldn't make sure everyone knows to have tents secured, mech stowed, and people in safe spaces? I guess maybe checking the weather was over doing it in all the events I've done.

Good move to help out people. Inexcusable that organizers didn't have the pit area prepped for the storm that they knew was coming.

@Peally: Yeah, like a bear thinking it's going to snag some food from a tent and getting an unexpected kick to the face as it wakes up a human.

I agree 100% there needs to be an independent neuro there to make the determination....but Case Keenum is a great example of the NFL's system totally failing a player a few years ago.
