Pinkbike Poll: How Do You Decide Which Bike To Buy?
I bought my ancient Cannondale Prophet frame because I could actually afford it. I cannibalized my old bike for parts. It took me 6 years of saving to get a good modern parts spec and it rides well now all things considered. So price really. I enjoyed the learning experience of building and upgrading over time. That's priceless.

Opinion: You Should Be Fixing Your Own Bike
I can't afford to support the local shops nearly as much as I'd like to. So I l learned to wrench from reading, watching and doing. I found that it was very relaxing (most of the time...) and it was something I could do without bothering with life's BS for a while. I'm not rich enough to afford the GG or Canfield that I'd love to get so I built my own bike with modern parts and an old classic 05 Cannondale Prophet frame. I did a full 27.5 conversion, 1x11, fox factory 34 150mm, magura mt5s etc. That took me years to get to and it's never done. The geometry is weird, the regressive single pivot limits shock options etc, but it's what I can afford. I'm fine with that. Ride what you got. I like wrenching almost as much as I like riding.

Tahnee Seagrave to Miss Fort William World Cup DH Due to Concussion
Several years ago I crashed hard and suffered a severe concussion. Looming back I realized that felt the effects of it for much longer than I initially thought I did. It's not always easy to see them and to piece together what they connect to. Be good to yourself, Tahnee. Take as long as you need to. We're all cheering for you!

Pinkbike Poll: Do You Run a Bash Guard?
@schu2470: yes indeed. We have so many flavors of rock soup and root salad on the menu here. I run a bash on my trail/AM bike for that reason.

Milan Vader Seriously Injured After Crash at the Itzulia Basque Country
I went otb at about 20mph+ on a steep and fast mountain bike trail once. I woke up in an ambulance on my way to a helicopter ride. (I healed fine) I can't even imagine crashing at road race speeds! I hope this guy heals quickly and with minimal lasting effects. This is terrifying.

Opinion: Which MTB Innovations Do We Actually Need?
Ill keep my 05 frame with a regressive single pivot design and modern parts! Best of both worlds right? Right...?

Pinkbike Poll: How Far Do You Drive to Ride?
I'm spoiled in that my favorite trails are on my way to/from work. I can take my bike to work and then hit the trails on my way home. It takes me around half an hour to get to work and maybe 10 minutes back up from there to my trails. (Nox in SE PA) I have an old subaru sedan so I'm stuck with a trunk/boot mounted rack at the moment.
