@phops: A single hard compression does not really speak well to what is happening in real life when riding. It's a complex topic to cover in a comment section, but we do believe that anti-kickback is just one part of what makes Sidekick special. Low-drag (as you've seen mentioned here in the comments) and near silence, in combination with the anti-kickback, all work in unison to make the Sidekick experience unlike other hubs on the market. Sidekick also isolates drivetrain feedback from the chain bouncing around. If you want to learn more about pedal kickback specifically, there are a number of good YouTube videos that deep dive into it.

Nice to hear you had a great experience. We agree with your assessment - the improved rolling speed is really notable. We added the faster 9-degree setting to the new 2.0 Sidekick hubs because internal testing and rider feedback showed it truly brings short-travel bikes to life.

Get well soon! Among other things, we did work on tire fit with these new tires. That said, aside from the trail casings, they basically are DH tires and the radial construction can make it a bit tricker since they want to flex open. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/spOQD2MADnc?si=eaDrZqhAkq8Mtpup Another good tip is to make sure you are using thin rim tape and not something like gorilla tape which really builds up the rim well to a point that it makes tire install more difficult. Always finish pushing the last bead over right at the valve.
