I’m not going to buy a new e-bike until it’s something like this with an integrated gear box or (m.g.u.) for several reasons!Such as: I’m so sick of ruining rear mechs on rocks or sticks that get caught in my spokes. No reason to carry all the unsprung weight mass, might as well put that weight down low with the motor for better handling and suspension performance. E-bikes chew up chains and drivetrain components because of the increased load that they provide on the system, the gearbox could be designed to accommodate that extra load. Chain maintenance (lube and clean mostly) with current e-bikes is kind of different because you can’t really back-pedal the chain easily like you do with a regular bike and also I try not to put the hose to my E-bike as often as I would with a regular bike for obvious reasons, so the mgu system would eliminate some of these issues. Plus it looks cleaner and you could dish out your rear wheel much wider and stronger without the cassette there.
