The problem is with low quality ceramic bearings. Steel races wear differently than ceramic balls leading to premature failures.

Final Randoms - Eurobike 2026
Is it really hard to understand why bike companies have no interest in going to this show? What does an electric quad have to do with bicycles?

Norco's New $4,500 Torrent DH - Ready for Big Moves & the Bike Park
@jayacheess: Glad you think Maxxis/Schwalbe/Kenda tires, Sram brakes and drivetrain parts and pretty much every component for a bicycle doesn't meet some ridiculous Canadian standard.

Norco's New $4,500 Torrent DH - Ready for Big Moves & the Bike Park
@jpb1227: Too bad the tariffs and increased prices have killed the used bike market. People think their 10 year old bike is worth 30% more because the new model is 30% more.

Norco's New $4,500 Torrent DH - Ready for Big Moves & the Bike Park
https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2026/05/07/specialized-unveils-drastic-price-reduction-plan-retailers-turbo-levo Companies are starting to realize that they can't use tariffs as an excuse to grossly overcharge customers. I think it's purely price gouging by most companies. Think a company like Specialized is cutting prices for the good of the customer? It's because they have plenty of margin on their end to eat well. All these companies who raised prices when the tariffs went into affect are going to get them refunded. They won't be paying them anymore, but no one is dropping prices. There will be no refunds to the consumers who paid increased prices while the companies pocket the extra 30-40% they got on all the tariffs they paid.

Judge Declines to Enforce $175K Settlement in Specialized E-Bike 'Over-Run' Lawsuit
Bike most likely wasn't sold. He's an old guy who probably had someone hack it to give it MOAR POWER and that's why he wouldn't give it up.
