Interview: Vali Höll On Not Getting Paid By YT, Rider Safety, and Why DH Won’t Be In the Olympics
I think the biggest reason DH isn’t in the Olympics is because it’s a royal pain in the cock to put on an event.
Every other event in the summer Olympics takes place in a relatively small area, even the more niche events like archery for example you need a square roughly 100m by 100m…cross country again may take up more physical land mass than downhill but it’s a loop it doesn’t take a 2km stretch of steep terrain like downhill. It’s a right pain in the arse

Bike Check: Dylan Maples' Modified Pivot Phoenix
@dirtyburger: there is indeed a small membrane however there is a pressure relief one way valve on the top of the lever assembly of Saint brakes at least, one would expect the same on an XTR. By pressure style bleed I’m probably better off explaining it as overfilling the system as the drip cup in the shimano bleed kit that threads into the bleed port on the top of the lever, by design, will only allow a certain max fluid level. The pressure style bleed does not cause this membrane to fail as it doesn’t push enough pressure through the system, what does cause it to fail and I’ve seen this before, is if you do a pressure style bleed and then try to fully pull the brake lever to the bar, other than that I’ve never seen a membrane fail

Bike Check: Dylan Maples' Modified Pivot Phoenix
@DC1988: or possibly a calliper up pressure bleed with the lever bleed port closed a’la how you bleed sram brakes. Not sure if the World Cup mechanics use bleed blocks do they? I never do because I can match the bleed to the alignment of the calliper & pad spacing. Can’t do that with a bleed block in place

Results: Junior Finals at the Leogang DH World Cup
@TasGravityGirls: I’m just stating my opinion, everyone’s entitled to their own. I personally still found the men’s race more exciting because with each rider down it was a case of “will Jackson best Finn, will uncle rico beat Finn, will max alran beat Finn” etc particularly with how mixed the men’s qualies were with a lot of the regular podium finishers placing lower down and the usual 10-20 finishers qualifying higher and a good few riders who don’t regularly make finals placing really well whereas in my opinion the women’s race kinda went as expected but as I say this is purely my own opinion

@Intothewhite: watching on Tiz (kick) not to be confused with “kik” the nonce app, full commentary uninterrupted stream start to finish through Jr Mens to Elt Women’s no cuts in the broadcast and the commentary was half decent this week. Mark had woken up from his 6 week long Coma and Ric didn’t batter us with the full name of every team every 22 seconds, only when introducing a rider in the gate and even then he didn’t do it with everyone.
To top it all off the racing was great, some incredible performances top to bottom and some wild individual sectors (Anna Newkirk sector 3) it did seem odd watching Elt Women start last. not wrong, just different. It’s kinda like watching W-series or Formula 2 AFTER watching the Spa F1. In my opinion, as a paying customer (streamed this time as was away from home) the end of the show should be the best performance, the climax of the event. At Glastonbury they didn’t start with the headline act they end with it. At the olympics they don’t start with the 4x100 relay they end with it. The big show, the best action, the wildest runs are at the end.
As above, not saying it’s wrong I’m just saying it’ll feel many of us.

Commenting on World Cup DH Commentary, Specialized's New Demo, & The DH Bar End Trend
When one of the editors of the world’s biggest mountain biking website says the commentary is shit, something must be done. I do hope WBD see the feedback and sort this farce out

30% Of Racers Hit The Deck at the 2026 Loudenvielle DH World Cup - Story Of The Race
@pyromaniac: so did Mark Beaumont though, he put a second and a half into Greg Minnaar in Val di Sole 2010 and won Vigo in 2007 again against a stacked field, Sam Hill, Steve Peat, Gee Atherton, Fabien Barel so it turns out that being a good racer doesn’t always make a good commentator.
Put it this way, F1, Kimi Raikkonen has won an F1 world title and you would absolutely not want him commentating. In an interview he was asked “where do you feel the car needs to be faster to bring you back to the sharp end of the field” he replied “around the track”..

@singletrackjamaica: yeah you can’t argue with his answer 😂 Mikka Hakkinen on top gear, James May asked him a really long, complex question expecting a deeply insightful multilayered answer, Mikka just replied “yes”

@smegman: it’s Marc Beaumont - the bloke has won 2 world cups back in his day. I presume because the rest of the field took the day off because Beaumont is so fucking boring
Note to WBD, a good rider doesn’t make a good commentator, it’s like having Kimi Raikonen commentating on F1 when in an interview he was asked “in what area do you feel the car needs to be faster?” And he replied “around the track” and walked off..

Judge Declines to Enforce $175K Settlement in Specialized E-Bike 'Over-Run' Lawsuit
@Jwimmer: agreed my dude, in any case the fact he got rid of the evidence tells us he knew this bike was absolutely not defective.
He sold it so that specialized would not be able to inspect the bike, meaning he knew it wasn’t defective.
He sold it to a mate - if it was an actual friend, you wouldn’t sell them a defective bike.
Even if he actually sold it to a random purchaser - I expect that if the bike was defective, they would then seek recompense from either the seller or from specialized for the cost outlaid. The fact this did not happen, tells me the bike wasn’t defective.
I have come to the conclusion that this bike was in fact not defective and this guy was trying to have specialized over for 150 big ones
Also, apologies for the awful spelling in my original comment, I was either high as a kite on pain relief due to a botched operation in January or 93% asleep
