@ericolsen: I remember Rude turning pro at 15 factory Yeti sponsored at 16. Top 15 WC at 17 before there was a Junior category. Junior World champ, beating guys like Luca, Loris Vergier, Fearon. All legends To think what could have been in DH had he never went to enduro? Lets not pretend Rude wasn't the cream of the crop young WC talent before he went to enduro.

The Sam Hill's and Richie Rude's, of the world gave Enduro massive street cred as these guys were Top level WC downhill superstars. They came, they dominated, they put alot of eyes on the sport. Legitamized the sport, sold alot of bikes. They retired or switched to DH. The interest is obviously going to go down, it kind of lost its aura. Watching the worlds best is or was the draw. WC DH would take the same hit if the top 15 guys left the sport. It would not be half as marketable. Watching the worlds best is different than watching the best of the rest still doing it. 0 marketability.

Every little thing makes a difference to a point. The top pros are beatable on home soil, on a WC track the gap is going to be much wider. Not just the US, all over the world.

They need a 35+ legends class in which any rider with a WC win is protected.

It's a game of hoping something goes wrong for Jordan, Finn, Loic, Asa, Jackson, Amaurry, What are the odds of beating all those guys on the same day? Next to nothing. Injuries, DQ and mechanicals are a help but when any one of those guys puts down their best, good luck beating them. The game has changed.

They need to make a rule if you fail to qualify for 50% or more of the races you lose eligibility to race WC the following year. Maybe give the riders 1 throw away for mechanicals crashes etc.
