POC’s New Barocon Carbon DH Helmet Meets US Moto Standards, But It Costs $880
I feel like you can get a really nice dirtbike helmet for 1/4 of the cost. Just because its "DH" its expensive. While you are at it, buy yourself a new Kawasaki for less than 10k to go with it.

Thought Experiment: How Much Does It Actually Cost To Start Mountain Biking?
I tell most people you need 1k just to get into the sport. If you like it, buy a better bike. The gear is a joke. I bought zebra print knee pads from Pricepoint way back in the day. You can get a good bag, helmet, and some cheap gear for $2-300 and try to find a used bike around $1,000.00. As a side note, people need to stop trying to get $87k for their old ass mountain bikes. I only got into this sport because my brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles wife, bought him a new bike and he sold me his Cannondale prophet for $500. Be kind and pay it forward with your old stuff and maybe we can get some new people into the sport for less than $3,456.
