Paul Bas - This Is Not An Injury Update
Yup. I shattered T10 and T11 when I was 16. T9-T12 were fused in an 10 or 11 hour surgery. These injuries do take time though. I was off the bike for 8 months and wasn't pain free for nearly two years. Hopefully his recovery goes well and he comes back healthy. Shattering vertebrae is pretty scary. The X-rays are crazy to look at. Seeing bone fragments where vertebrae are supposed to be and all.

Everyone has that friend that can be talked into anything. That guy would be a perfect test subject for this. Just tell him how crappy a rider he is and how this ladder is totally not rideable and enjoy the hilarity that ensues.

Pinkbike Poll: Upsizing Your Frame?
I bought my first long travel frame a while back. It is a small 06' Stinky frame with a few parts from past builds (X9 from 2006, old Saint cranks, Pro II's laced to 721's) and a few new parts (X-Fusion Vengeance and Vector HLR Coil, Avid XO Trails, and Deity bars, stem, post, pedals, clamp and grips). I think I cut the bars a half inch on each side and like the width for how I use the bike. I also set the saddle so I could climb comfortably. It isn't ideal, but right now it is the only trailish bike I have with gears. When I drop the seat to an ideal height for FR/DH, the bars catch the seat. Really not a big deal, but damn this frame is short. If I had known what I know now, I would have bought a medium frame instead. I am 5'2" tall.

Pinkbike Poll: Do You Do Trail Work?
I had a dirt jump park that took up almost two acres in high school. I had over 3000 hours into that park when we had to tear it down. I tried again with a public DJ park supported by the county, but I was late to the party (the project was two years old), and I was the only person involved that knew how to build a park. I tried, but I couldn't get enough done and attract the attention necessary during that summer to keep the board interested in the project. I work six days a week, and when things are busy I put in about 100 hours a week. I've been touching up a little pump track in the next town over lately. There isn't much else to ride up here at school, plus it gives me an excuse to dig.

Reynolds 27.5 AM Carbon Wheelset - Review
I have two sets of Mavic EX 721's on Pro II's. One 9 speed hub, and one SS hub. I think I paid $620 for the 9 speed set and $650 for the SS set, shipped to my doorstep. 32 DT double butted spokes on both sets. Nothing fancy, but they've been bulletproof so far. Seems like the guys at Pinkbike have completely forgotten the value of a dollar these days.
