@KArsenault: I think he was able to hike up there yesterday in the snow storm with his 3 year old. Lesson learned, Freel is only appropriate for kids 3+ in snowy conditions.

Freel peak is a crazy fun downhill, but there is a lot of exposure and rocks. Folks riding with the front seats on the bike path is insane; on Freel is gross negligence. There are so many great places in South Lake to ride a little push bike or explore chill trails - he purposely selected one of the worst.

Why I’m Not Panicking About 1,500W E-Bikes (Yet)

I sure love the bermed uphill turns where it used to be rooty and tight. Yea for progress and dumbing down of all trails in the name of laziness. Can't wait to see just how much fatter and lazier the average rider will be in a couple years. Enough of the 'it will be fine' from Pinkbike. The manufacturers are flagrantly breaking agreements they made to 'be cool'. It didn't work with Google and it won't work with the the bike companies. We will all be riding crappier bikes in 5 years with full throttle and 32" wheels because regular bikes will be unavailable.

@mikekazimer: I just re-read your 2/17 article on this - where exactly did you make it clear that this places it into class 3? Secondly, why are you (or any publications) even advertising these overpowered cycles if it makes the bike illegal basically everywhere it is going to be ridden? The two direction trails that used to be fun to go down, are now a death wish as fat a$# guys my age fly up hill in turbo mode and their dropper seat all the way down.

New Jersey E-Bike Riders Will Require Licence, Registration & Insurance Under Newly Signed Law

@rickybobby19: it’s incredible how many parents don’t realize they can lose there home and savings if their kid injures someone. Surrons and other class 2/3 bikes are typically excluded from liability coverage. I know several parents who bought these to save driving around town. When I ask if it’s insured they just say they aren’t worried about it getting stolen…no f’ing clue about consequences of shit.

He has been my go to whenever I get stuck or make a huge mistake. Just listening to him calmed me down and made me feel like I could handle the mess I’d created. He was/is the Bob Ross of wrenching.

Review: Hunt's Wallet-Friendly XC Wide Alloy Wheels

I bought an XC Race alloy set a couple years ago for my 130lb son and they wheels went completely out of round and true after one ride. They paid a shop to fix them and the same thing happened on the very next ride. Bought a trail set for my older kid and the rear wheel went out of true just seating the tires at 40psi. Returned them for a full refund. Easy warranty and great customer service, but 0 for 2 with Hunt. I have had over 30 wheelsets and these two are the only that had rim issues...hub issues with other companies is a different story.

Opinion: Don't Get Rid of the Ports - High End MTB Frames Should Still Work With Cable Operated Drivetrains

Bring back external. Internal was purely a ploy to make the bike 'look sexy'. All it did was lead to mystery cable slap and many frustrating nights trying to fish a cable or hose out. These are bikes that are meant to be thrashed and should be designed with ease of maintenance and replacement part options in mind. I have a spare (cable actuated) derailleur on hand at all times so me and my family don't miss any riding when one gets whacked - which is rare. It's a no brainer when I can pick up a spare for $75-100. No way I would shell out for a spare wireless. Yes, I have ridden AXS and it's amazing! But forcing people to buy top tier stuff is ridiculous and out of touch with people that destroy parts each season. Nobody cares if your bike is sexy.
