Field Test Review: 2024 Ibis Ripmo - The Revised Classic
Love my custom V2 built by the Bike Co. It is one of the best MTBs I’ve owned in 30 years. Also I love my Ibis carbon wide rims with Hydra, best wheels I’ve ever owned. Cheers.

Review: Industry Nine Solix M TR300/290 Carbon Wheels
@andrewbikeguide: @andrewbikeguide: I reached out to Peter at Pinner, but he didn’t have the titanium axle in stock. Since I’m not particularly hard on my bike, I decided to go with a new I9 axle for now, along with hub shell bearings and the stress riser washer kit. I also replaced all the bearings in the hub. Peter mentioned that for the pawls to engage, the axle needs to flex. The issue is that aluminum, being stiffer than steel or titanium, doesn’t flex as easily without fatiguing. Over time, aluminum can break if it’s repeatedly stressed. Steel and titanium, on the other hand, are more elastic and can bend without breaking. To address this, I9 has cleverly moved the point of flex to a more favorable position by adding the washer and shifting the stress to a well-supported area within the bearing. I expect this solution will largely resolve the issue. As for whether I’ll break my axle, it really depends on my frame design more than just rider input. I ride a Ripmo V2, and some frames rely more on the hub as a structural component, while others are stiff enough that the hub doesn’t have to work as hard to keep everything in line. So, it’s hard to predict how likely it is that my axle will break. I’m thinking my new service I will the tech install the titanium Pinner axle. Regarding cost, Pinner axles are indeed more expensive because the materials are pricier and more difficult to machine. It probably wouldn’t make sense for I9 to use these materials, as it would make an already expensive product even more costly. I sent Peter’s website with axle to I9, and they liked it! :) Cheers!

Ripmo V2 - EXT Storia, Cascade, Vorsprung

$3700 USD
2022 Ibis Ripmo V2 (147mm rear travel) in excellent mechanical condition with minor cosmetic defects. The bike is in mint condition, dialed, and rides buttery smooth with no creaking or squeaking. Custom-built by The Bike Company in Lake Forest, CA. *Buyer pays for shipping cost via BikeFlights, the box and professional packaging at local bike shop. This is a 10k bike with little use and sat in a garage. In addition to this amount, this year I invested approximately $1500 with suspension upgrades and full service at local shop. Bike hasn’t been crashed and has light use on XC trails. Suspension Upgrades: - January 2024: Both the fork and rear suspension linkage serviced, new bushings, bearings, and installed Vorsprung Secus, Cascade Link, and EXT Storia LOK V3. These upgrades have significantly improved the bike's performance, making it one-of-a-kind. - The Secus makes air forks perform more like coil, but with more bottom-out control and adjustability. It increases negative volume to give a linear-progressive spring curve. Also, it increases lower leg volume to reduce unwanted, non-adjustable ramp-up. - The Cascade Link gives the Ripmo's rear suspension a progression increase to 28% from 19% with the stock linkage. This increase in progression allows the bike to maintain excellent traction across small rocks and roots while also allowing the bike to better resist bottoming out on bigger hits and compressions. - EXT Storia LOK V3 is custom tuned for the Ripmo V2 with adjustable low/high-speed compression, rebound, hydraulic bottom-out control, and a lockout lever. Comes with 475 & 575 Cascade super alloy springs. Provides plush start, mid-stroke support, and increased grip over square-edged hits. Maintenance: - Ripmo had complete overhaul in January 2024 and was serviced in June 2024 at local bike shop. Components: - Fox Factory Kashima 36, 160mm, Shiny Orange, Grip 2, Vorsprung Secus. - Ibis S35 29 Industry Nine wheelset. Industry Nine Hydra hubs laced to Ibis wide carbon rims. The rims feature a 41 mm outside width with a 35 mm inner width. Note: New enduro bearings front and rear hub. Installed the new/updated I9 Hydra axle with hub shell bearings and stress riser washer kit (June 2024). - Raceface NextR Carbon Cranks, 170mm. - Raceface Next R 35 Carbon Handlebar. - Maxxis Assegai + Agressor Tires (note installed Maxxis Rekon front and rear for cross country trails). Setup Tubeless. - XTR 12-speed Rear Derailleur. XT Shifter. New XT cassette and chain (June 2024). - absoluteBLACK Oval Chainring. - Chris King Limited Edition Matching Headset. - Chris King Bottom Bracket. - Industry Nine A35 Stem. - Magura MT7 Raceline with 1-finger HC3 lever blade, Magura storm CL rotors. Brakes bled with Royal Blood, new rear rotor and pads (June 2024). - Yolk Dropper Post + PNW Lever. - SQlab Saddle. - Deity TMAC pedals. Additional Info: - Bike will come with front wheel, and handlebar removed. It will only require a basic tool set to reassemble. - Bike weighs 30 lbs with XT clipless pedals. - Happy to Facetime/video chat to look at the bike. - Sold bikes and components on Pinkbike, references available. - Verified PayPal. - Sale is final, no returns.

First Look: Vorsprung's New Telum Coil Shock
Have a SECUS on two bikes. Also, EXT Storia LOK V3 on one bike. Will likely have a Vorsprung Tellum Coil Shock when I get a new sled. Nothing wrong with a DVO coil shock either… So many choices! :)
