Reader Story: Return of the Bonesmashers
What a great article! Please, more of this. I still fondly remember spotting these majestic animals while on a holiday with Basque MTB and the time a fellow rider briefly went missing during a lunch stop in the harbour city of pasaia because he was so engrossed in birdwatching that he lost touch with the group. He later recounted how a full-grown bearded vulture flew just over his head into an open church, only to fly out again a short while later and vanish back into the sky. A fantastic place—and not just for mountain biking

Starling Cycles Turns Black Friday Into a Christmas Party Fundraiser
Irony or not, marketing gag or meta-level nonsense. I don't give a fuck. Starling Rules and Black Friday consumerism suck is the agenda ;-)

Video: Hans Rey Says Farewell to GT After 38 Legendary Years
Hans showed me and my friends what's possible with a bike and laid the foundation for future generations. Without him, the sport might look different today. A great ambassador for MTB who will hopefully continue to delight us with his art for a long time to come.

Opinion: The Price - Balancing Risk & Reward on Solo Rides
@TucsonDon: My argument with the guide was indeed related to unfamiliar high-alpine terrain where you might encounter a marmot, let alone a human. If I'm lucky, I get there maybe twice a year on vacation. Anyways, even if I were an experienced local, I wouldn't bike there alone, but at least with like-minded people.

Opinion: The Price - Balancing Risk & Reward on Solo Rides
Nevertheless, a huge circus is organized should you not return from a bike ride. I remember the tragic story of Matt Oppermann, who had an accident alone in the Andalusian Sierra Nevada and sadly died. Mountain rescue teams, police, forestry authorities, helicopters, etc. were on the move for days trying to find him. This ties up rescue workers and costs enormous sums. Not to mention his loved ones at home. Responsibility towards others should therefore also be on the agenda.

Opinion: The Price - Balancing Risk & Reward on Solo Rides
Whether ski touring or biking in high-alpine terrain, I always treat myself to the company of a guide who knows the best routes and is there to help me in an emergency. Furthermore, I benefit immensely from his choice of lines in difficult terrain. This way, I at least minimize the high risk a little, and my wife is happy too!

Great travel report with impressive photos. You guys rip! Was in Slovenia myself last summer. Super friendly people, fantastic landscapes, tasty food and countless fantastic enduro style trails. We were traveling around Kobarid and Bovec in the Soca valley. There are some guiding operators on site who will take you to the best spots.
