Burning Question: Why Have Some Pro Riders Downsized to a 27.5" Rear Wheel?
@suspended-flesh: huh, never would have thought to use it for such a…wholesome…reason. And all I really saw was someone going off about the horrors of having to ride the same bike for two years. Not as bad as I thought.

Just curious, I have the Beta filter on, is there a lot of stuff going up behind there?

Video: Nik Nestoroff's Course Preview for the NW Cup Round 1
@TEAM-ROBOT: I think my comment got a bit garbled. What I should have said is: Sure, you can ride an enduro bike on anything these days, but the people who really want to go fast on this track pick up their DH bike because they need it. But there are a few locals who’s frame sponsor’s don’t have a DH bike who make it work. I doubt a lot of the haters on this thread would have it in them to pull for the the big gaps on this course. Anyway, didn’t know is was in the presence of the author so much internet goodness. But I probably yelled at you at some point on Sunday.

It was insane! 500 racers with over 100 pro and junior ex riders! I think they said in an email somewhere that it was the biggest DH race in the US this year.

You can ride it fine on an enduro bike, but to go real fast, a lot of the pros tend towards DH bikes. I think this holds true for most DH courses these days. The consistently fastest local racer, Demetri Triantafillou, is sponsored by Evil and has done a far bit of winning on a Wreckoning with a dual crown. So who knows.

Qualifying Analysis from the Lourdes DH World Cup 2022
I mean, its possible that a Frenchie showed Finn how to ride that track.... That time graph is brutal, a frenchman first, then a gap to four more french (and Finn), then a big gap to the rest.

Pinkbike Primer: Everything You Need to Know Before the 2022 DH World Cup Season Begins at Lourdes
@bananowy: I don’t really feel the same way. It’s a high point of my year, getting up at 3-5 am on a weekend, making some snacks, and just geeking out on the racing! So cool to be able to see, even on tv, when someone is on a killer run. I look forward to it all year and would pay quite a lot for really good coverage, even if it means paying for golf or whatever. It’s the “really good live coverage” thing I’m worried about going away. And what streaming service has an annual subscription? Just pay for the months you want. I only ever really have one streaming service that I’m paying for at any one time. Just binge all the good new content, cancel, and move to the next one.
