I gave it another go a few days later in reverse but legs were too tired to get round the whole thing again haha.

I honestly thought the descending was great. Not a single section a machine built track in sight, everything is natural and follows the contours of the mountains, sure there are some parts that don't flow on a bike but that's just apart of the challenge and you have to work out how to make it flow.

Thanks heaps for your kind words! You'll be glad to know I don't actually have a sugar addiction, although I can see why these videos certainly make it seem like it haha. I prioritise carbs in these endurance challenges and sugary snacks are the easiest way to stack up carbs, I do regularly have 'real' food throughout these challenges but they typically aren't highlighted. Thanks for your concerns :)

Thank you! I hope you enjoyed the ride just as much as I did, It's such wicked part of the world, and yes there is a lot of hike-a-bike!

This was a 20 hour challenge and I'd decided to do it self-supported. Which meant I'd be carrying everything I'd need and only be using publicly available services. Whilst doing these endurance challenges I aim for 90-120grams of carbs per hour. My only fuel stop along the route was a restaurant and I knew I wouldn't be stopping to wait for a cooked meal. My focus was on only having carb dense foods to get the best value in terms of size, weight and space as I'd essentially need to carry 20 hours worth of food in a bag for the entirety of the ride. To best utilise my energy carrying ability I choose to fill my bladder with coke instead of plain water. Coke is also a good way to get in energy once you get too tired to eat. What isn't highlighted in the video is that I was fueling on more than just coke, there was plenty of 'real' food too!

Whilst I completely agree with what you've said here and I will be the first to admit I do consume a lot of coke and candy during endurance efforts there is also a lot more 'real' food I consume that you don't see. In the video above you'll see me fill my liquid bladder with coke and also stop in the middle of the route to refuel with coke. Eating normal food isn't entertaining by any means but some people might just get a laugh out of me filling my bladder with coke or charging into a restaurant to purchase 8 cans. That's exactly why those coke scenes are highlighted throughout the video and there isn't any footage of me eating 'real' food, it's all for entertainment purposes.

Cheers! Although this was a "race against Killian" it was so much more than that, it was more about the adventure and doing some amazing riding along the way. I did this straight after the first block of EDR races in Europe on my enduro race bike, did it self-supported and hadn't seen much of the route before hand. There's definitely plenty of time left out there so could be worth another visit to refine everything down!
