Sep 13, 2023Trek Fuel EX 9 with brand new Fox Float 34
$999 USDBrand new Fox Float 34 front fork! Less than 2 hours ridden. Don't be fooled by the 2015 build. This is a great full suspension trail or XC bike that's able to hit jumps, semi-gnarly trails, enduro and some technical downhill. Climbs pretty well too. Would be perfect for getting a youngster (or yourself) into riding a better bike but you don't want to break the bank.
Fork currently set to 130mm travel but you can replace the air shafts and bump it up to 140mm. Stock build was only 120mm travel with a lower end fork. This is a big improvement. Fork itself retails for over $700 (plus tax) so this is a great deal.
This bike is super fun to ride and in great shape. Snappy, agile feel with 27.5" wheels and Maxxis DHR 2 tires.
I got this for my son a while back but he outgrew it. This bike is perfect for someone 5'3" up to 5'9" or so with Trek's frame size of 18.5/17.5.
I'm 5'10" and could ride it but it's a tiny bit cramped. Shifts well but you might want to replace the cable soon. Crankbrothers Stamp pedals included. Local meetup with cash, venmo or apple pay only.
same setup as link below except upgraded new fork and newer Maxxis tires:

Why Shorter Cranks Are Better (According To Science)
Had about a dozen pedal strikes in the past two technical rides with my 175mm cranks at Skyline in Napa and Camp Tamarancho in Marin. Super annoying. Was ratcheting like crazy but still kept whacking the pedals.
This article is speaking to me!
Now I just have to figure out how to switch out the SRAM S-2200 Carbon crankset on my 2016 Stumpjumper FSR to 165's (or 170's?) that are good but not too expensive that fit. The more I read about bottom brackets and cranksets the more I am confused.
