First Ride: Maxxis Highroller III Tire - DH Race Ready
@birdsandtrees: i've been looking at the argotal ever since i mounted the kryptotals. it looks like it could work for me. for me the assegai in 3c maxxgrip so far has been the best front tire for the loose riding out here. i just wish they didn't flat so often. i refuse to run inserts so i need a tire that can take a beating and so far the conti's have proven to be up to that challenge. it weird to me that their casings (even in the trail casing) have been so bulletproof against pinch flats, yet i still have sealant spots all over them.

First Ride: Maxxis Highroller III Tire - DH Race Ready
@birdsandtrees: i contemplated biting the bullet and just running the DH F and R but my bike is already a tank and i really don't want to add more rolling weight and resistance to the thing. i think my happy spot would be the enduros F and R. i can live with the rear tire stepping out occasionally as i have been able to predict when it's going to happen, but when the front tire decides to do it's own thing through sandy washes and pebbly off cambers is where i have to kind of draw the line. i wish i could try the front in the enduro/soft but i can't freaking find them anywhere. luckily my bike is mullet and the 27.5s are easy to find in any compound you want. having said all that i am still in the market for tires. i briefly thought about going back to maxxis. i even bought an assegai in the new exo+ maxxgrip for the front but then i remembered how much i used to flat maxxis tires and curse their name in vane and i just requested a return label for it. i need to find something i like soon though as my rear tire is getting pretty low on tread.

@homerjm: this is going to sound super lame, but i am big looks guy. that patch on the michelin is a huge ick to me. one of the reasons why i like the conti's is because of their minimalist approach on their patching. however, those tires do look good and maybe one day i'll give them a try (on someone else's bike).

@birdsandtrees: enduro rear and trail front. i wish i could find a 29er kryptotal F in the enduro/soft but it seems to be a myth at this point. i do have to say, for being a trail casing tire, the sidewalls have held up great. like i said, i have been beating on these tires for a year now and haven't flatted yet. i straight smash my front tire into rocks on purpose and it just won't flat. knobs have held up stellar as well. i just wish the front tire wasn't as skatey and vague out here in the AZ desert.

@justinfoil: i've got 2 conti kryptotals (f and r) that both have wet spots from sealant all over the damn place. i was a fan of the conti at first but i think it was new tire placebo effect. the front tire is so vague and slides all over the place. the rear tire steps out all the time but then catches itself. i like the sidewalls as i have been able to absolutely beat on these tires with no pinching, but the grip just isn't there.

Video: Greg Callaghan Rips It Up on the New Ripmo
In frame storage is so good. It's one of those things where don't you realize how much you love it until you don't have it. I will never go back to a bike without it now. Being able to just slap a bottle on the bike and go for a ride without carrying a pack for tools, tubes, pump, etc is life changing.

First Ride: Ibis Ripmo - Now With Downtube Storage & Mixed Wheel Compatibility
@danctm: i agree. i'd way rather have shimano over sram and i am pleased to see ibis going with a whole range from deore to xt. however, when you look at the complete cost of a deore kit and realize its like $300 you kind of wonder where the rest of the 5k price on that bike is going. same with the fork. $350 for that fork. the math ain't mathin.

@WheelNut: tbh it is refreshing to see a full shimano line up of builds. don't see that very often anymore.
