Our Unfiltered Thoughts on The 2026 Value Bike Field Test
@xciscool: This is the most sensible take, especially the part about people sticking with the sport or not. I started on a rigid bike because it was 1997, but it doesn't make much sense in this day and age. Not going over the bars when you hit a root as a new rider is pretty nice.

Field Test: YT Jeffsy Core 1 - Where Value Meets Performance
The San Quentin is a compelling alternative. Costs $1000 less, weighs 4 pounds less, still shreds, and some folks prefer a hardtail. I would rather have it than a 36 pound FS bike, regardless of price.

Value Field Test: Devinci Kobain - Hardtail Nirvana
Aluminum is better in the budget category. A steel bike at this spec would weigh 35 pounds and cost more. Also, hardtails benefit just as much as FS from 29" wheels, arguably more. I ride a hardtail and will be sticking with 29ers from here on.

Must Watch: 'Afterlife' with Brandon Semenuk
@pmhobson: Word. I'm a geologist, so I guess these videos featuring landscapes brings us out of the woodwork. For mtb videos featuring geology porn and a (slightly) less impactful use of the landscape, I really liked the Kurt Sorge - Camp Hane video.

Must Watch: 'Afterlife' with Brandon Semenuk
There aren't very many places like that in Canada. To be honest it made me wince seeing that landscape carved up to build bike jumps. A bit like defacing art. Not to be a bummer in these comments full of people who loved the video. I did too, the videography was gorgeous. Hopefully they cleaned up / reclaimed what they built for this as much as possible.

Final Results from the Trophy of Nations 2022
Anecdotal opinion, but I think it helps that Enduro is such fun format for amateur racing. So maybe it's that a lot of people now have done a local enduro, loved it, and are tuning into the racing scene. Or maybe the interest is coming from folks watching YouTube POV videos of megavalanche runs and similar. Or both. Either way, I think the format's popularity will continue to rise and eventually the coverage has to follow. Feels like we're in a weird in-between-time.

Wade is the epitome of a BC dude. I hope he's still doing this in another 20 years with a white beard and white hairs stickin out his ears.
