New Jersey E-Bike Riders Will Require Licence, Registration & Insurance Under Newly Signed Law
This has nothing to do with the power output of mountain bikes. This started because there were some e bike fatalities on the roads on non-pedal bikes. Politicians and the insurance lobby got involved and came up with a money grab blanket law to pull as much money as possible from people.

@dthomp325: I think you might have missed some news. Only the majority of universities in the US. The majority of city and state employees were forced to get it as well as hundreds of large corporations. Everyone from chase bank to Disney. You also needed it to eat in NYC and to travel.
