@jgoldfield: I was just about to comment this same thing. As was burned before can be rebuilt, just like they did the last time. I reminder riding the burn area just after the fire and it felt like I was riding on Mars.

No clue about pants/jerseys/shorts but I loved my pair of gloves from them. They were super durable and last like 2 years even after some falls and scuffs.

They completely botched their re-entry into the advanced MTB market. Originally, the approach was to offer bikes with tremendous value to gain a bunch of traction in the market and name/brand recognition - then slowly increase prices and decrease value to be more on par with other brands. The problem is like you said, they didn't actually update any of the bikes. The same Diamondback Release 3 reviewed by Pinkbike in 2018 is currently still for sale with the same geometry, similar but slightly worse specs, and a $900 increase in price adjusted for inflation. They should have looked at YT, who did the same thing but successful. 4-5 years ago YT was also one of the best values in the MTB world. The value's slightly diminished now from what it once was, but they've also updated the bikes and released new models. That's the direction Diamondback should have gone.

@FloydTShark: At that point, why not start off with the Jeffsy?

I'd just add another volume spacer before moving to a coil.
