First Ride: 2022 Trek Session - Nope, Not Going to Say It
Commencal's been killing it for a while now. They just need to bring back their 27.5 Meta TR.

Canyon Release Stoic Hardtail
Don't know why y'all are defending these companies for making clunkers. A hardtail shouldn't weigh the same as a full sus... There are tons of hardtails that are tough AND light, and it's silly to pretend that weight isn't a consideration on a bike that you pedal. To me an overly heavy bike implies lazy engineering and a way to save money on warranty claims.

Pinkbike Poll: The Great Chamois Debate - What Do You Wear While Mountain Biking?
Pockets, style, knee pad coverage, and because guess what happens if you crash and tear your spandex shorts with nothing underneath...?

Pinkbike Poll: The Great Chamois Debate - What Do You Wear While Mountain Biking?
I mean... it's pretty obvious that this is market research, right? How else are MTB companies going to actually know if people prefer padded shorts, bibs, baggies, etc? Still, it's a bit of fun and helps companies cater to the masses.

Pinkbike Poll: The Great Chamois Debate - What Do You Wear While Mountain Biking?
There are tales of dirt jumpers who've had their nuts sucked into the 1 inch gap between their saddle and rear wheel.

Pinkbike Poll: The Great Chamois Debate - What Do You Wear While Mountain Biking?
Take it from someone who's learned the hard way: CHAMOIS ARE A CRUCIAL PROTECTIVE LAYER!!! You're dirt jumping so you figure "Well I'm not actually riding around seated like on a normal bike, why bother with a chamois?" And then you slip both pedals in the air and land asshole first on the tip of your saddle and have weird trauma shits for the rest of the day. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED, PEOPLE!

Bike Check: Dangerholm's Insanely Light Scott Spark
I have the 2018 Meta TR 27 (they stopped making it for some very silly reason) and it comes in under 14 KG. The AM would be hella overkill for Ontario.

A Mountain Biker's Guide to Making Road Riding More Fun
Same. What I also like about my CX bike is getting out on the bike is less of an ordeal. MTB typically requires a bit more gear, and it's slower to get to the trails. On the CX I can ride to the trails 50% faster and hit a quick XC loop, whereas I wouldn't do a quick loop on my full sus because the ride feels like more of a time investment.

A Mountain Biker's Guide to Making Road Riding More Fun
What makes CX bikes fun for MTBers is that they're designed with off-roading and obstacles in mind, which makes them great for light single-track. Gravel bikes are made for comfort on gravel, stability, and touring, and honestly gravel is pretty boring because you can't turn for shit on gravel, which makes cornering a slow, dull affair. A CX bike is the closest roadish bike to an XC race bike.
