@Velosexualist: yeah I feel you on the pain. I’m 35 now and every time I throw my leg over a bmx (rarely) I usually find myself hurting a lot more than I did in my 20s. I love the bmx cuz it’s just so easy to spin and throw around but I ride a dj now for those kinda thrills. My wrists like it better.

Actually, what’s psi you are running is pretty important for doing all that stuff in a bmx, and so is chainstay length. Parking lot warm ups was probably 180s and manuals. It’s different but both ways of riding are good.

Bmx riders also know how to fall. It’s part of learning to ride. It’s also much easier to fall well cuz the bikes are a lot smaller and you can throw them out of the way easier.

@mathiasrides: I rode bmx for forever and now I exclusively ride mtb. I get it, mtbers can be overly focused on the bike and not riding but man bmx riders are overly focused on tricking. I couldn’t keep up, too many injuries and it enough progression. I mean I was decent but never gonna be a pro and the constant attitude of learn more tricks or you suck got old. Mtb is nice cuz I can ride big jumps, go fast and have a blast just doing those things and there’s zero pressure to do more.
