by sage cattabriga-alosa

The elements air, fire, water, and earth exemplify aspects of nature and represent facets of the human experiences of inspiration, creation, reflection, and grounding. These components can be a guide to our experiences of life, and are deeply connected to skiing and mountain biking.

Elemental is presented by Atomic, and The North Face, supported by Giant Bicycles, and Smith. It is directed and produced by Sage Cattabriga-Alosa

Featuring skiing from Lucas Wachs, Mitchel Brower, and Jonah Williams.

featuring biking from Adam Craig, with cameos from Eliot Jackson, Kyle Jameson, Carson Storch, Reed Boggs, and Dusty Wygle.

Blasphemy! Elemental was and still is one of my favorite og bike movies. Most of you Pinkbike kids have probably never seen the original....sad!

After we were deep into production I learned of a mt bike movie of the same name, didnt find a lot out there about it and we were committed already to the name, graphics, etc. and figuring this was quite a bit different we didnt turn back. Would love to track it down some time and give it a watch.

Agreed! Lots of Elemental was filmed on Vancouver Island and as a kid i got to watch them film some parts for it at our local trails/jumps. Still have the dvd on my shelf. Timeless!

Go eat your KFC Donald, you're low on sugar! Quit being negative, this having the same name does not diminish that mtb movie.

@sageca: I think Bjorn Aunet directed it if I remember correctly. I want to say 2007? Anyway your video is very well done and brought back really good memories so thanks!

@Sugarbrad: I gotta track it down! thanks

@icjakob: I think you are thinking of a different film that was produced before this one. These guys didn't do their homework and just used the same name. I know because I made the film Smile

Hot damn do I miss living in Bend!!! Awesome film, the stoke meter is full again! That looked like it was near the painted hills in Fire, as well as a Cline Butte cameo, I'm not sure where Earth was filmed though

It definitely has that feel, doesn't it? Somewhere out in the John Day Fossil area for sure, probably on private land given they were riding down it. Wink .

Thats right a little cline cameo was key as its my go to riding spot. Earth was over on the Oregon Coast, Look up TORTAmtb on instagram !

@sageca: Which Oregon trails were you riding? The credits implied Prineville and the foliage looks like the coast range. But I don't see many trails looking that good in the Tillamook State Forest.

Such an awesome movie! I love the combo of skiing and mountain biking. Very well done. Also, I had no idea that Sage could shred just as hard on a bike as he can on skis! I was also stoked to see Mitch featured in this movie. I got to know him in college and he is a really great guy and a phenomenal skier!

Didn't know you are such an animal on the mtb!
Thank you for 20 mins of stoke \m/

So sick! Putting the stoke meter on high for two of my favorite parts of life! Appreciate the hard work and awesome production.

Such a beautiful production linking the flow so many of us find in those two awesome and so similar sports. I am a lifelong skiier and stumbled upon mountain biking by accident (literally) on the late, and the first thought i had was "wow that looks just like skiing on a bike!" This film expresses the feeling so much better.

Thanks so much for sharing this inspiring and visually stunning art, and keep shredding all seasons.

For Earth being the 'grounding' section, there was an awful lot of air time!

No Heart section? I was hoping for full captain Planet! Wink

Great riding, awesome shots and interesting locations. Nice video!

This!!!! A film that truly inspires the beast within. @sageca the tree tap at 11:27 is truly epic (among much of the rest). Ties together so many things in my life that are meaningful and inspiring. Props!

They really should have sprung for the Morgan Freeman narration. Otherwise...RAD video!
  • 8 0
Hahah, yeah Since it was such a personal take, I figured the voice over had to come from me, but was a big challenge committing and following through with being the "voice" of it . plus was cheaper than Morgan Wink

@sageca: Ha! You did good. It was just such an epic script and opening, I was expecting an equally epic baritone. For real, though, RAD video!

@sageca: Seth Rogan might've been available?

@sageca: Kudos on the voiceover, it sounds great. And voiceovers are soooo hard to do well. 99% of us fall in the category of "I can't believe I have any friends" when we hear our own voice on recording.

@mtnallen: Hahaha ... thanks man yeah in that category for sure.
