Great to see companies trying to take positive steps forward for the environment. But why not take a ‘step backwards’ and stop the use of carbon fibre completely. Aluminium and steel are 100% recyclable and frames made from these materials do not have to be inferior to their carbon models. I have owned a carbon bike and now being back on an alloy bike I will not purchase another carbon frame. I did not know at the time the impact carbon was having as a material and only hope the carbon repairer I left my damaged frame with can make some use of the material.

I used to be particular about my entire bike. Never squeaked, clicked, perfect shifting every time. Now I have 2 kids and the only thing I a particular about is actually riding it when the opportunity presents itself. Squeaks, clicks, poor shifting and at least one loose bolt. No less enjoyable though.

My news year’s resolution was to sort out my pinkbike password. Meaning to for ages so thank you for providing me a good reason to do this. Saw your comment and wanted to up vote it. Hang on it’s not 2022. Dang nab it I will have to think of a new one now.

Alexi vid such an important topic. I lost my sister to suicide nearly 10 years ago now. I never knew how ‘sick’ she was and regret not doing more when she was alive. As Alexi says herself “she didn’t have to die”. I now have a niece who will only just remember her mum and parents who have to go through life having lost a child to suicide. Athlete or not Olympian or not mental health matters. Take the time today and talk to the ones you love, ask them how they are going it might be all it takes to save a life.

Best bet to waterproof them is to whip down to your local bike shop. They would be happy to give you a box to cover it. Good chance you would get it for free.
