Review: After 13 Years Shimano’s Saint Brakes Are Still on Top for Outright Power
I run Saint levers and Maven calipers for massive power and a better feel than the sram levers. This setup definitely has more power than the full saint I ran before. I want all power all the time, "modulation" just means that your brakes aren't very powerful.

Intrusive Thoughts: I Bought a 1999 Kona Stab Dee-Lux
That was a dream bike in my early freeride days! I ended up building a Stinky 6, that I turned into an 8" travel 24"x 3" wheeled beast with a monster T. I could huck stair sets all day, but loamy turns were kryptonite for the small wheels.

Why Are Modern Mountain Bikes Getting Heavier?
@azdog: true story. Mt Lemmon/Flag/Hawes will destroy Exo on the first section of trail.

Why Are Modern Mountain Bikes Getting Heavier?
@totaltoads: I'm 290lbs. I run dh/gravity cased tires with cushcore or Vittoria airliners for everything. I'll throw a paper thin exo off the rim or pinch it in a rock garden on the first run down the mountain. I'll take the weight penalty if it means I can run a tire through it's designed life cycle.

2024 Pinkbike Awards: Product of the Year Winner
My takeaway, as a 280lb gravity oriented powerlifter who runs DH cased tires AND inserts just to keep the tire on the rim, is that radial tires are made for little people and they'd feel like gummy worms under me.

Pinkbike Poll: How Far Are You Willing to Drive to a Bike Park?
The closest bike park is 5.5 hours away and the one I ride monthly is 7.5 hours. My daughter and I routinely leave the house at 3am, arrive at the park when it opens, ride all day, then drive back home. We're hitting Trestles for a few days next month and that's 12.5 hours away
