Behind the Numbers: Specialized Stumpjumper EVO 29 Suspension Analysis
@TheRaven: There you have it. I enjoy climbing and I hate a sluggish feel when going up. And I don't mind a less plush feel when descending esp. if the plushness comes at the expense of climbing acumen.

Behind the Numbers: Specialized Stumpjumper EVO 29 Suspension Analysis
What does this tell us in a larger context. For example, I found this comment "Pumping the bike will result in more energy going into compressing the shock rather than maintaining forwards momentum" to be how I feel about the Spec FS bikes I've ridden; they've always felt wallowy and I feel like I'm fighting to move forward. So given that I don't get on with Spec's Horst-link and given the "numbers" on this Specialized, what should I be looking for in a bike??? Higher leverage? Over 100% anti-squat? I've really liked Yeti's SI and Pivot's DW...should I just stick with those b/c numbers are meaningless????

First Ride: Trek's 2020 Top Fuel Gets a Little More Travel & a Lot More Aggressive
Except it looks like Trek is also making a far lighter and more XC oriented platform. The Top Fuel is aimed squarely at CAT7 "racers" like me!

Review: Norrona's Skibotn Gore-Tex Pro Jacket Has Hidden Hand Covers
"The skibotn's price tag is steep, which makes it best suited for riders who spend a good portion of their saddle time running from Starbucks to Google or from their helipad to their Goldman Sachs corner office."

First Look: Ibis' Longest, Slackest, and Burliest Ripley
@butters1996: I was gonna type: get rid of that pig that is the cassette and there's nothing really wrong with NX.

First Look: Ibis' Longest, Slackest, and Burliest Ripley
@rkillianjr46: before they changed their model, the sniper would have been appx $8000...before Jenson sold it for 54% off MSRP!

First Look: Ibis' Longest, Slackest, and Burliest Ripley
Ripley V4 vs SB100 vs Ryve115 stat!!! (Just my opinion, but I think these three are different from Smugg, GG-TP, and FollowingMB. Sure the Geo is similar, but these seem more towards the XC end (w/o being XC) and those seem more burly Enduro-y (w/o being enduro). Am I making sense...prolly not...carry on.

Bike Check: Kate Courtney's Scott Scale - Sea Otter 2019
I borrowed a RC900SL for about a 2hr demo. I don't know what it weighed, but it was soooo light, it was a bit unnerving...like it needed more weight to make it stable. Not flexy...more like: twitchy. It was a featherweight for sure.

Spot's New Short-Travel Ripper - Sea Otter 2019
@catweasel: didn’t he “break” that bike....and then kept riding it until complete failure? If I remember correctly, he rode the bike like an f’n idiot....Spots initial response was poor, but ultimately, didn’t they replace the bike, created a fix for all the bikes, and made it available to all owners? After a terrible initial response, it seems they righted the ship.
