I have a contour hd 1080p. When I play the my videos on QuickTime it's really choppy but if you download the contour editing application then the videos become perfect quality.

I have a GoPro Wide right now, very satisfied with it, but I want better quality, I want a HD ! And since I you now can buy one from the pinkbike shop Im just wondering, whats the difference between the US version and the canadian version ? I live in sweden, europe, where PAL is the standard, Does both US and Canadian version only supports NTSC or what ?

/Fredrik

there is a option in the menu to switch from NTSC or PAL.

the only one im familiar with is the gopro and i wouldnt buy another one. i have had constant problems with mine and have sent it back once and it wasnt repaired. i have since sent a few emails with no response. the customer service is very lacking.i will say the mounting features are pretty slick but if the camera does not function properly what good will that do.

Hmm, not sure what issue you might be having getting ahold of GoPro. I bug them all the time using their contact page (couldn't figure out I had bought a fake SD card on eBay and getting stickers) and they ALWAYS get back to me within 2-3 days at most. My buddy had a bad camera and they replaced it for him right away...I would check back with them because I, and everyone I know, have had a great experience with their customer service.

Could anyone from the U.K. that has bought one from pinkbike confirm how much it came to after import charges?

Trying to weigh this up against buying one from the U.K.

  • 2 0

does anyone think it's worth springing the extra cash for the HD version or is the normal def a large difference in quality?
  • 2 0
 massive diff in quality...

New firmware was released for Hero HD version - couple new features! FIY for those who don't know.. BTW I love this cam.
  • 1 0
the only good feature is the upside down recording option. live viewing and OSD is not a big deal and one button recording isnt really that useful.
  • 1 0
May sound a tad stupid but does the gopro come with an SD card included if so what size?
Cheers Connor

 It chops a lot :/

i think it is from when the video is sped up, when i have tried with mine it gets a bit choppy depending on the frame rate. also wonder if some of it around 1:30 is an editing effect?
  • 2 0
 go to china
  • 1 0
the choppiness is because of the rolling shutter design. 60fps does look better than the 30fps when shooting fast moving objects, but still doesnt stop the rolling shutter design flaw
  • 1 0
okay and how do the contours do in snow?
  • 1 0
Does anyone know when the next generation of GoPro's will be surfacing?
  • 1 0
the GoPro 960 should be available soon
  • 1 0
Note too that the GoPro 960 isn't really a "next-gen". It's a more affordable version of the full-featured GoPro HD with a few less features. I would suspect its cheaper as it would have a few less components packed into it. I'm told it'd be the same size though
  • 1 0
Ahh.. I'm holding off in hopes of a smaller version. There's a write up on a different brand, that was featured on here awhile back, smaller in size. Something that size but with the quality of the GoPro HD would be noice...
  • 1 0
Drift HD 170 perhaps? It's actually bigger than the GoPro. That's the only other camera I've heard about
  • 1 0
Will these work in U.K. formats
  • 2 0
Yes it will. See deadatbirth's comment
  • 1 1
 Thanks never seen that

i wanted to get one of these, then i was like"oh wait, i dont know how to upload the videos or edit them." haha

If u buy GoPro Hero then u need to buy class 10 SD card because class 6 will not work on longer recordings!
  • 3 0
That's not true I'm using a 16GB class 4 PNY with no problems.
  • 3 0
im using a 4gb i found in my basement, no problems with it at all
  • 1 0
ya, that's not true, its recomended you use a class 4, that's what im using and its awesome!
  • 1 1
 omg only $300.
  • 5 0
I don't see where the big deal is...
300$ is the regular price on the GoPro store (www.goprocamera.com/products/hd-helmet-hero-camera.php)
  • 2 0
yea when i read "prices starting at $300!" i thought i was reading something wrong, because thats the regular price anyways
  • 1 0
Umm $300 CAD is a big step down from $300USD
The gopro website is in USD, while PB is in CAD.
  • 1 0
300 USD = 309.79 CAD not that big of a difference
  • 2 0
Yeah, you're right. I was adding shipping on too which is about and extra $80usd for me so the price difference seemed bigger. Buying from PB makes it significanlty cheaper for me with the free postage.
  • 1 0
They are on sale right now for $120 on pricepoint, or JensonUSA, got the propaganda email but I deleted it so not sure on specifics..
