^ I think we can all agree what this video tells, Mountain Biking isn't just a sport, it's a life style. An awesome one! So wicked.

there is nothing that can describe the amount of respect i have for these guys. this will honestly be the first and probably last biking movie i ever buy, at least until they make another one. i really hope they do.
- + 17
oh myyyy shit! i think i just came! woowwww! that was THEEEE best video i have seen in a long long time! A bike never dies! words cant describe how i feel right now! but put it this way ... i should be at work but am calling in sick and going ridinggggggggggg 3

National Geograhic meets Mountain Biking! Amazing, this video has got me pumped to ride and soo many ideas for my photography! The only way this film could be anymore epic is if Morgan Freeman narrated it

i am never going to order from this site again but i need the movie. amazon!. that was sooo epic

i know a few guys who produce ski movies, i showed this to a few of them and they were completely blown away. no movie in the action sports industry is up to par with this, skiing included.
- + 11
I think the closest example to this in terms of production level in action sports is "That's it That's All" snowboard film

progession- yea ive seen thats it thats all a few times, the filming is for sure excellent indeed, but i'm not sure if it will surpass life cycles, or really any action sports film won't for a long time
- + 7
I was lucky enough to be invited to the Whistler Premire of Life Cycles, All i can say, is that it blew my mind! I left speachless and inspired. This trailer dosen't get close to how good this film is! I've never been so stoaked to ride my bike, or make a film than after watching it! Buy the film, watch it, then pick your jaw up off the floor!

Finally something shows how amazing biking and life is. The movie looks and sounds amazing. And I'll have to agree with tobygoodger.
- + 1
Probably not from this year...maybe last. I thought it might have something to do with logging, and trails being destroyed that way...
- + 1
@progression, "thats it thats all" had a 4 million dollar budget, but none the less this will be the best movie of all time.
- + 1
It is a burning slash pile. What it is done with the "garbage" wood, after loggers have finished with a cut block. And don't hate the loggers, without them we would have many of the FSR that give us access to bike trails new and old.
- + 1
@tott burning the left over at cut blocks never crossed my mind and it is so obvious lol and your right without loggers most of the great biking locations in BC might not be here today
- - 1
HOLY CRAP:o IM LIKE SPEACH LESS THAT WAS LIKE AMAZING THATS ALL I CAN SAY!!!!(sorry caps just make it more better)
- + 1
man this is one of the best biking movies i have seen in awhile. its so crazy and well edited movies
- + 12
Yeah seriously, thank you guys. That trailer alone floored me and I was honestly sitting here jaw dropped eyes wide open like a foot from from monitor for every second of that. I wish I knew a way to really say how much awe I was in, but I can't begin to fathom how to do that. I can really start to see now why it has taken so long to create this film.
- + 2
You are my idols, if you're ever in the uk I WILL kiss the soles of your feet! haha, seriously, inspirational!
- - 7
has anyone else seen this movie? it blows. if i considered it a mountain bike movie it would be the absolute worst ever. but it's not a mountain bike movie. it's a bunch of pretty scenery. it sucked so bad it actually pissed me off. these guys must have a bunch of friends and they are all writing on this review page.
- - 1
my bad. I clicked on the MOVIE link today to review it and didn't see the review dates - no one had seen the movie yet - the reviews were only for the teaser. Since I clicked on the movie I didn't realize this review was only the VOD until after I wrote the above. just the same the movie sucks
- + 4
the movie didnt suck, it is one of the best bike films ever made, it is beautifully filmed and directed, so it isn't all biking, but the shots with biking in them by far made up for the shots without biking. it was all very articstic and was different to any other biking film. this film made me so stoked to get out and ride.
- + 11
Such a pleasure to see a bike movie that uses proper post production - the kind that's so good it's invisible but still enhances the film (unlike Hollywood these days) - and manages to evoke such a 'get out and ride' feeling, whilst actually telling a story (ditto Hollywood) and not just a random collection of people hucking! Well done Life Cycles, it's sure to be a genre-defining film! Can't wait...
- + 6
this film may be so good visually that it brings in more than just a mtb audience. all the work for acquiring these epic shots should be seen by anyone who has passion for something they love! i cant wait to see 'life cycles'. mad respect to the filmmakers on this project.

WOW! Incredible dedication to capturing such a wide array of footage and often over hours of shooting one scene! Already ordered my copy and can't wait to watch the full movie this fall - goosebumps included!

does anybody know if life cycles is going to do what follow me did with all the premiers all over the place, and if so, does anyone know dates at all?
This movie is going to be one of those turning points in making bike movies...Shit movie PERIOD.

Can be be honest? I reckon it's too arty farty.... too many leaves and not enough riding. Don't get me wrong it's good, it's just more of a BBC nature documentary than a riding DVD. U could condense the riding down to abut 3 minutes if played at full speed. OVERRATED!!!
- + 0
before anyone else writes to me giving me stick coz i don't rate life-cycles.... I stand by my opinion that in my eyes they could have made a bit more of the riding. There are some good bits but not enough to warrant the hype. Jees, I'm sorry if that offends anyone... if it does then rather than mail me why don't you just go for a ride or hug a tree..... CHOOOOO

Ah...just spotted that the last coment before mine was in Dec 2010. If anyone reads this after me, I'm from the past and have travelled forward in time in my amazing time machine, just to write a comment 6 months after the topic begin just to confuse any budding webarcheologists further in the future researching social comentaries of the early 21st century, but by saying this I have clearly undone any potential subterfuge, plus they must have access to the same / better time travelling device as me, so won't need to faff around with archeology, but will just travel back to experience history as it happens, therefore missing out on this incredible post as it won't be written for another 6 months. That's cleared that up.

style over substance, follow me is 10 times the film this hopes to be, better scenery, better riding and better soundtrack. This is more like an art students "look at what i can do" project IMO

I beg to differ. Life Cycles owned Follow me in all the categories:
Filming: Beautiful
Biking: Beautiful
Music: Beautiful
Editing: Beautiful
Theme: Defined AND expressed
Life Cycles actually follows it's defined theme of the bicycle.
Follow Me doesn't convey it's intended theme of 2 riders very well:
- only one rider in many shots
- disorganized; bringing many other riders in that weren't mentioned before, like Fairclough and Berrecloth
Follow Me wasn't worth it the way they hyped it up. When I watched Life Cycles, I could see that they took time. It was a totally sick movie.
True, Follow Me filmers did go to NZ for a section. But the Life Cycles guys went to Fernie for just 3 shots! That's commitment to a good movie.

That's not committment to riding is it? It's committment to being an artist.... too arty for me... I don't apprciate spending that much cash on about 2.5 mins of riding. WACK
- + 1
In a movie, commitment to being an artist is commitment to riding. Being artistic is the entire point of making a mountain bike movie. Better art yields better expression of biking, and that's why this movie gets me so stoked.
P.S. If something is too artsy for you, you shouldn't be watching mountain bike movies, because being artsy is the point of making a video about biking. If that isn't the point, movies shouldn't be made about biking.
- + 1
mtb movies are meant to get riders stoked to ride and show off what can be done on a bike, originally intended to show off the latest gear and advertising in an exciting manner, not what can be done behind the lens, your comment is ridiculous, maybe you should give up riding if you think mtbing is about art
- + 1
@ hillman-hunter and gavlaa: I think mtbing is about mtbing, not about art. If my last comment sounded like it's about art, that was not my intention. I'm just trying to point out that Life Cycles did a better job filming. Personally, if I can see riding on a tv screen and all that happens during a ride, that's what gets me stoked to go ride myself. Life Cycles portrays that stuff the best. It has plenty of good riding and then they spice it up with creative shots. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?
For the most part, follow me does a good job of showing riding, and it gets me stoked, but life cycles stokes me more.
@ gavlaa: I'm not saying that you can't express your opinion, which I know many people agree with you on. I never said your opinion was wrong, I was just trying to further explain my opinion.

In all honesty, the trailer for life cycles was better than the movie. Life cycles was so drawn out I wanted to fast forward some parts. I like how life cycles talks about the relationship a bike as with the rider, earth, vice versa but that was explained in the 3min trailer fairly well. Follow me brought you all your favorite riders with good music and awesome HD footage, it was exciting, while "Life Cycles" was a more philosophical bike movie. Yes "Life Cycles" the editing and post-production was more like an Imax movie while follow me is more down to earth and getting you stoked to go do some downhill/freeride & buy a plane ticket to NZ, lol. You really can't compare these movies. One is more philosophical than the other. I can show life cycles to my buddy who doesn't bike and he will say "oh, thats cool I guess." or when I show him follow me he says "damn, son. I wanna go get a MTB and find a sick-ass DH trail RIGHT NOW." LOL hopefully you get my points.
cheers

- + 1
Well, I see what you mean when you say that Life Cycles is a philosophical movie. It is, but that is not a bad thing. Life Cycles was well constructed and in-depth, and when I watch it, It always makes me lean forward in my seat. The combination of riding, building, filming, editing, etc. were in perfect proportions in LC. In a movie, I never like to see too much riding at once, because for me, watching riding for a long time is boring. I would rather be riding myself! Plus, the building section in Life Cycles was pretty interesting too. It got me stoked to go out and build a trail, which is always helpful where I live (there are not many trails in my town). There were some problems with Life Cycles (eg. they way overdid slowmo, they should have given up on narration) but it still drew me in and got me really stoked.
Follow Me was more down to earth like you said, and it had good riding for sure, but at times, it got a little boring, the Windells section in particular. One of my favorite sections was Kamloops, it had excellent riding, and the filming added to it. Some sections were kind of ruined by the filming, and especially, the editing, however. For example, the N. Shore segment was good in filming and riding, but the music? Worst sound I have ever heard. Ever. I had to mute that segment.
So, both have their pros and cons, but I think overall Life Cycles was more passionate about riding, they didn't just blunder through it. Well, we all have different tastes however. Nothing wrong with just opinions. Cheers as well.

production quality is good but the riding tech aint a patch on dust n bones. And also ...what's with all the pansy/f*ggot type ultra-gay comments about coming in your pants??? For f*ck sake grow a pair of balls n empty em in a woman (yes you heard me ...a WOMAN) not a f*ckin bloke - for f*ck sake ...and certainly not over a push-bike video!
p.s the video was f*ckin awesome! (It were that good I gizzed mi-sen)
