Pinkbike Poll: The Local Bike Shop
I'd like to use bike shops more but then things like this happen: -
Can I have a Deore bottom bracket please? Shop worker goes out back, comes back, looks puzzled at his computer, umms and ahhs, eventually comes out with an XT one, suitably overpriced. "That's all I've got". I say no thank you and suddenly he can get one in later that afternoon, too late, trying to scam me again. Same routine happened to a friend. Also, last week at a different shop, "Can I buy a chain?", "you can't if chain work etc etc", oh well, lost sale then. If I want a chain, sell me a chain, it's my problem if I buggar something up!!!

Pinkbike Poll: Are Trails Becoming Too Manicured?
Although I can sort of understand that smooth manicured trails might attract more beginners, I think it's more the increase in trail centres with facilities that is attracting more riders. There were no smooth trails, or trail centres, when I started on the Quantocks and I wonder if I might have got bored soon just riding smooth trail centre trails? I think trail centres need to have diversity in the trails and more 'extreme' shouldn't just mean smooth but with big jumps.

First Ride: Santa Cruz Bronson Carbon - 650B Ripper
A good point. I'm struggling to recall a review of something that wasn't high end and top price. Nice to see these type of bikes, but would love to hear PB's respected opinion on some che...i mean affordable bikes too.

How to Touch Your Toes Without Stretching
I thought, "make me a better rider", great, but sadly it didn't work. I defy anyone to touch their toes whilst riding without falling off, I couldn't manage it.

Aaron Gwin Wins DH on a 29er - Jill Kintner Wins on a 650B - Sea Otter 2013
So, it isn't the gnarliest track in the world, that's not the point of the whole event. Whatever the grade of the track its the same for every rider and they all have to try and beat each other. If the fastest weapon of choice is a 29er then so be it. It's not as if they've changed bikes with rocket boosters, the wheel is just a bit bigger...get over it. It would be ridiculous if we banned 29ers from races or gave them a separate category, just let the pros choose their wheel size. If they are slower on some tracks then riders won't use them on that track, simple.
