Trippin: Nepalese Pass Stormin' - Video

Nepal, a country full of culture and surprise, the land of the never ending mountain and the Dalai Lama, home to more expeditions than a lifetime can imagine and the first ascent of a 4000 metre peak. However beyond its towering mountains and incredible vistas the people habituating the villages and communities higher than most people will set foot in a lifetime are what makes the country so special. Driving through the madness of Kathmandu it is hard to imagine a country more different to its western counterparts and little did we know the few weeks ahead of us would take us to some of the most incredible places we have ever seen and eventually over the 5400m Thorong La pass!

I hope you know the Dalai lama lives in Dharamshala india and not in Nepal. So no Nepal is not the "land" of the dalai lama. He is originally from Tibet and now is a refugee in india.

There are lama in Nepal though. I wouldn't call myself spiritual but meeting them was certainly an incredible experience

@rrsport: I thought they were alpacas in Nepal?

@metaam as a Nepali who actually understands the psyche. I wouldn't say people are content its just that they have no choice. And trust me they would do anything to live a better life away from hardship and poverty. Sorry to say but you saying that is western romanticising at its finest.

As a Nepali, one of the things I would do before finding flaws in this beautiful video is thank the creators for showcasing my country and the potentials it holds as a global mountain biking destination. Yes, there are some factual errors, but the content is absolutely magical, wouldn't you agree? :-)

@Riwajc Sorry if I caused you offence, I wasn't trying to romanticise anything. Obviously I understand most Nepalis want better lives, that's true for far too many people on the planet. I've travelled to several countries in the region where the economic situation is similar. In my experience every time I've visited your country I've found the Nepalis seemingly happier with their lot than their counterparts from those countries. If I'm wrong in that observation then I apologise.

Really like it a lot. A minor comment on the editing side, maybe you guys are trying something new or pushing for a shorter edit on this one, but the quick cuts near the start of the video is quite jarring and disorientating, specially considering those where establishing shots, they were just to fast for me, some are even less than 2 secs. Again, I'm not privy to what the editor was trying to achieve with the quick cut effects, so maybe i'm just nit picking on an otherwise great adventure and awesome feature. i'll just show my self out for being negative, i'm sorry, it's just i hurt my shoulder again and i'm bummed i was not able to ride today,

I agree. I couldn't really focus on the video the whole time it was on. Hyper twitch editing.

@rrsport yea there are also priests in every country but that doesn't mean england is the home of the pope does it. Saying nepal is the land of the dalai lama is factually incorrectly.

Who cares about the Pope? We invented dinosaurs!

I've walked it, not ridden it and must say that doesn't paint the picture as to how much hike-a-bike there is on that trail! A couple of days would almost be half hiking! Wonderful part of the world though, would love to go back on a bike! What are the rules around bikes now? Free to do it any time? Same kind of permits as normal trekkers?

@metaam no worries man. I was not offended at all. It was more of just letting you know all is not what it seems on the outside and the harsh reality of what the majority of the population have to endure. I mean its not your fault. The video was great and I don't know if you've ridden here but you gotta admit the riding is awesome. And more tourists like yourself coming here only helps the economy more.

Beautiful video and images, @trippinfellaz. Thanks for putting this out there. I'm sure Ajay and Mukhiya 'Snow Monkey' showed you a bloody good time when you visited!

I wonder what that monk was listening to? My guess is a bit of Nirvana.

I love this country, mind blowing scenery and it never fails to humble me how people with so little can be seemingly so content. It puts us in the West with our first world problems to shame.

@mandil did I mention anywhere about the video being bad? Iam just pointing out the fact that they said Nepal is the home of the Dalai lama and correcting their mistake as to not misinform people. What's wrong with that? So according to your logic a documentary can provide untrue facts not in accordance to reality as long as the cinematography is beautiful? As to my second point on romanticising peoples circumstances it was not directed at the creators of this video but to a commenter on this site. Whether you like it or not its the reality of what happens on a regular basis whether innocently or otherwise. All in all I found your comment a bit snarky. Just because you know these people doesnt make you the arbiter of my opinions.

Awesome journey through a very cool part of the world!! It would be a dream to visit and ride here in Nepal! I kind of wish the edit was a little slower to see some of the cool beauty a little more!
