May 2, 2023Norco Optic Frame - Large
$450 GBPPlease read this description in full!!!
Hello and welcome to the sale of my Norco Optic frame.
I purchased a 2020 Optic soon after it was awarded Pink Bike bike of the year. I rode if for about a year when it failed. After a long wait I received a replacement frame under warranty.
It was this 2021 frame I received, which had been updated with the rear end from the Norco Sight. This solved the issue that caused the first failure.
As far as I am aware, this is the only orange Optic frame in the country, as Tredz, the importer at the time (after Evans) never imported it in this colour.
I have ridden this frame for around 18 months and have loved every minute. It is a great all round frame, allowing me to ride local loops, as well as races like the Ard Rock enduro and my first ever time at the Megavalanche. It is short travel (125mm rear), but has aggressive geometry numbers. Do a google and ready some of the glowing reviews it has received over the years.
But alas, it was time to try something new, hence the reason for this auction. But it will be missed!
Onto the frame itself…. As mentioned, it’s seen a fair bit of riding and there are plenty of signs of this. The frame has various paint chips, cable rub marks and scratches. Unfortunately I don’t wrap my frames with protection, as I oddly like the battle scars, as they remind me of the places I have been on it.
There is one particularly large chip on the down tube. This was picked up at the already mentioned Megavalanche race. The top ply of carbon has started to de-laminate ever so slightly. But I have ridden the frame for 8 months after this without issue. It would be an easy fix for anyone that’s handy with a bit of resin etc. As far as I am aware, the frame is still structurally sound and I would have no issues to continue to ride it as it currently is.
The frame comes with various spare bolts, cable ports, two mech hangers and rear axles, plus Norco manuals with a breakdown of all parts etc.
The shock was serviced about 9 months ago by TF tuned, so is probably due another one, but it currently works well.
All bearings in the frame seem ok. Again, probably time for a swap.
The bearings in the headset are new and have only seen one or two rides, so they are all good.
So, as I say, it’s been a brilliant frame, but is no use to me anymore, so could be an ideal project for someone to return it to its best. Or a cheap way to see if a short travel 29er is for you.
Check Norco’s sight for full geometry numbers and size guide (I am 5’9 and it was a confidence inspiring fit).
I am open to sensible negotiations on the price. Collection in person would be great, but I am happy to package it all up and send it via courier. But due to size, this won’t be super cheap (approx £25).
Please look over the photos carefully, as I don’t want any disappointment or you thinking you are getting a frame in ‘as new’ condition.
Any questions or requirements for more pics, please send me a message.
