First Ride: The 2026 Santa Cruz Tallboy Has Been Fully Reinvented, But Remains a Joy
@Muscovir: SC popularized VPP and refined it over the years. They did NOT invent it.
It was Outland bikes they (and Intense) acquired it from.

First Look: The Madrone Jab DH Derailleur
Just here to say the Jab on my trail bike is great. Only thing I’ve noticed is that since it’s so stiff the cable tension needs adjustment fairly frequently.
Huge improvement over the Shimano 12s derailleurs it replaced.

This Tiny Tubeless Valve Promises 666% the Air Flow of Presta - Taipei Cycle Show 2026
This.
I was lured in with the hype of Fillmore. What a waste of money. Much harder to fill with sealant and otherwise work no better than a regular Presta, which I’ve never had clog.

Wilde Brings Back 26" Fun With The Moto Cruiser
@dwbaillar: others say this and I’ve never understood this advice. I’d have to give up my entire career and livelihood and lbd myself in a leading city politics role to make this happen. I’ve lived in places where you can do as you please and make good trails, and places where the bureaucracy and red tape and conflicting administrative demands make good trail building nigh impossible.
When it’s the latter, you make lemonade and ride weird bikes.

Wilde Brings Back 26" Fun With The Moto Cruiser
If you haven’t tried riding ridiculous bikes, you’re missing out.
Way back when, it was all we had and we didn’t know any better. Bikes are so good these days that I sometimes find myself bored. That’s why I’ve got two fixed gears and a rigid bike in the quiver. You haven’t lived until you’ve ridden flow trails on a fixie or ridden the gnarliest trail in town on a rigid bike.
Maybe if you live in mountain bike utopia where all the trails are amazing and there’s an endless supply of them you don’t need a ridiculous bike. But if you live in a normal place where the trails are mediocre and there’s not enough of them - pick up a bike like this or that new Kona rig or just build something that sounds awful and give it a try.

The 2026 Specialized Levo R is in a Category of its Own
How about an area where there’s not a lot of gnar that mandates long travel but there are tons of steep loose long challenging climbs?
Thats where I live. I have zero use for a 170 bike except the occassional bike park trip. This bike looks rad for Colorado where the trails are mellow for the most part and there are super long climbs. I’ve got routes that require 20+ miles of climbing to get to your descents, and the descent is fine on a 130-150 bike. Longer travel will just bog you down. An SL bike doesn’t have the range I want.

Vivo's New XC Air Derailleur is a Piece of Art
My reason is I don’t want electric shifting and Shimano 12 speed mechanical derailleurs bend if you look at them wrong. So I got a Madrone.

First Ride: The Velduro Rogue R is an Avinox-Powered DH Fiend
I think the basic premise here is that these bikes seem wildly expensive - then if you go and try to make one without massive scale (Trek), the price is what it costs to develop and make. Assuming he sells 250 and profits $1000 on each - that’s $250000. Not a huge sum for a couple years work.
