Two cheap lights (bar & helmet) is way better than 1 expensive light on only your bar or helmet. Bar helps cast shadows, helmet helps light where you're looking. Having both is key if you're planning on doing any actual riding. Another thing that is often overlooked and isn't easily quantified with lights is how the beam is shaped and how it spreads. I bought one of the original LED bike lights - the NiteRider Tri-Newt. It has 3 LEDs with triangular shaped optics. And it was fantastic. It made a triangle of light, with the bottom being wider, where it helped with peripheral vision, and the top being narrower, where you didn't really need the width. And no hot spot in the middle. Best light pattern I've ever seen for a headlamp. I have another light - the Magicshine MJ902S that I refuse to use on my helmet. It has a brutal bright spot right in the middle, and doesn't spread out very nicely. It overpowers in that bright spot, and washes out your peripheral vision, and also doesn't let your bar light create and useful shadows. It's an okay light on the bar, as it's then mounted quite a bit lower, and can spread that spot over a longer stretch if trail.

@bykeco: I haven't gotten a 3D printer yet, but one of my first ideas for a design is a custom light mount that grips onto the vents on my helmet. I'd be curious to see how you did it on your setup

@overconfident: Agreed. Bigger doesn't always equal better. The 24mm spindles are steel, which is a better material for a crank spindle. It also allows for larger diameter ball bearings, so they last a lot longer as well. Their preload system is fantastic as well, as is their arm clamping.

Hopefully this is an indication that a true wireless system is coming soon from Shimano....

This article is bullshit due to its bias. - zero mention of the fact that center lock hubs are lighter - intentionally points out that 6 bolt rotors are lighter but cherry picks the heaviest possible design for the center lock rotor (taking a 6-bolt and effectively just adding an adapter. A DT 240 center lock hubs is 17g lighter than the exact same 6 bolt hub. Pick a rotor where they actually put an ounce of design effort into the center lock version (example - centerline X) and it's a 17g difference. So no, 6 bolt isn't heavier unless you're cherry picking parts to feed your bias.

I remember working in the bike shops when a guy came in with a bike, asked us to remove a set of perfectly fine clipless pedals, install the cheapest plastic flat pedals we had in stock, and told us just to throw out the clipless pedals. Sometimes you just know.
