Photo Story: Atherton Bikes from the Beginning
@karrot989: Yeah I get it man, but I think they are doing a lot to make a little known thing, a big deal. Keep in mind a lot of people would never know, or care to know what Robot Bikes was. So there's probably some thought put in there. Don't confuse the consumer...

Commencal Meta TR SX plus extras

$1800 CAD
Almost new frame. Ridden 3 times. Nothing wrong with it, I realized it's just too large for me. A couple minor, cosmetic marks that are not even noticeable from some rocks flicking up and they are pictured. THE MRP HAZZARD SHOCK IS NOT INCLUDED AND IS NOT ONE OF THE "EXTRAS". This frame can be run at 130mm or 140mm with either a 210mmx50mm or a 210x55mm stroke shock in air or coil. Commencal sells and fully supports any of these options within its warranty policy. Stock items included: Frame Plugs Bottle Cage Bolts Rock Gaurd under BB Rear Axle Seatpost Collar These sweet extras were bought new with the frame and I will leave them professionally installed: Wolftooth Premium Series ZS Headset Upper and Lower in Green (6mm low profile stack) ($180) Wheels Manufacturing Pressfit BB (Basically the only PF BB that doesn't creak) ($150) I never registered the frame with Commencal either and I have the receipt if you would like it. I have included all angles I feel were relevant to give you an idea of it's pretty much new condition. If you want a picture of anything else closer or a different angle just let me know. If you want to buy the Hazzard I won't take much below retail as I could still use it, but its new too and I put 28% sag on the MRP 500lb+ progressive spring with minimal preload for comparison and I weigh in around 170lbs without gear. Buyer pays shipping.

Photo Story: Atherton Bikes from the Beginning
@karrot989: " it would be like Trek developing the session, an athlete buying the company, tweaking the geometry and stiffness, putting their name on the downtube and then not even giving a nod to Trek for starting it all off." You pretty much just described any company that has ever changed ownership and or names. This is just the way of the world I think. I don't get the hate for Atherton bikes or their story, I hope they do really well and they probably don't give a shit what any of us think.

I think it's getting irrelevant at this point now in their story. Yes they bought it but its really theirs now and there's only so much bike design to go around anyway. It's like calling out a bike company for using the same suspension link style as another bike company. Or the classic Pinkbike saying, "looks like a session". Look at NOBL wheels, they basically started out by just selling LB rims on brand name hubs until they bought the carbon designs and possibly the machines to make them but everybody loves them, and for good reason because they made it a solid product, they just had to start somewhere.

Video: Friday Fails #123
Had to stop it 5 seconds in. If the first guy is fail then I might as well completely give up mountain biking because I'm a fucking embarrassment.

Behind the Numbers: Yeti SB140
How a bike rides is completely dictated by the science behind it, 100%. Every single mm and degree works together to change one another. You are right in that you may not be able to tell how a bike rides by looking at its numbers but that's only because there is infinite combinations of dimensions and movement. But rest assured they are completely responsible for how that bike rides.
