@netracer-enduro: True. Bike brands forecast big numbers for last year and Shimano delivered to them as fast as they can produce. Now bike brands are sitting on massive amounts of unsold stock and are going to be scrambling to reduce their ordering commitments.
Shimano are still subject to the same market effects as everyone else, just one step removed.

Who said anything about 'less confusing' anyway? Can't think of anything less confusing than one run finals as it's always been.
Semi finals is good because you can maintain TV exposure for the same number of riders but also show full finals runs without needing a 6 hour broadcast.

The UCI's Major Rule Changes for the 2023 DH World Cup
Only problems are too many points for a win in the semis (honestly it should be half a race win at most) and too few women in the semis.
Otherwise, televised semi finals are fantastic news and full run finals are fantastic news. I still wish we knew how Loic won that world champs, but at least we'll know next time.

@RadBartTaylor: You might be too young. Jan Ullrich, Lance Armstrong and a few others bought Lightweight wheels out of their own pockets to race in mountain stages instead of their sponsor correct hoops in the 90s/2000s. But Sky/Ineos have run LWs quite heavily for the last few years too.
The Athertons run Trickstuff brakes too, don't they?
