[UPDATED] Elite Final Results & Overall Standings from the Les Gets DH World Cup 2024
I've gotta think that Amaury on his day is the outright fastest DH rider there's ever been. Technically brilliant, insanely aggressive and physically an absolute monster.

Video: The New Crans-Montana XC World Cup Course Is A Piece of Art - A Very Technical One
@Someoldfart: "I like that courses are tough because the tech should trickle down to bikes we like to ride." Those deliberately spiky vertical rock lane dividers aren't about making the course tough. They don't add any element of skill or technique. They don't reward any kind of equipment choice. They simply change the possible consequences of a mistake from cuts and bruises to long term hospitalisation and permanent injury. I cannot fathom the justification for putting them in.

Video: XCO Course POV from the Mairiporã XC World Cup 2024
Those fast downhill jumps over wooden bridges look cool but don't feel like the best idea when it comes to bunch racing...

Podcast: Rob Warner Opens Up
@zoobab2: Not that he's biased or anything. I'm pretty sure Rob himself acknowledges that when he was pissed on air screaming rambling nonsense on Freecaster it was objectively shit coverage. (Except for the one-liners)

Video: World Cup Overall Winner Loic Bruni's 2023 Season Recap
@cro-magnon: To shed some light on the light, Discovery owns ESO ;-) To be more precise, Play Sports Group and DNI Europe Holdings own ESO. DNI Europe Holdings also owns Play Sports Group. Discovery owns DNI Holdings Europe. So long story short, Discovery have a much, much greater level of control over the UCI WC series than Red Bull had.

@betsie: It's definitely not a coincidence, but that doesn't mean it's what you say it is either. Discovery have a contract not just for the broadcast but for the overall organisation of UCI MTB racing. They run the whole thing. So yes, the new look and style of course taping is a Discovery thing, as is the new semi finals format etc. But RedBull did not have the same contract as Discovery, they just had the broadcast rights and everything else was run by the UCI. So (AFAIK) RedBull did not tape the courses poorly because RedBull did not tape the courses.

@snotrag: I have to agree. Good quality commentary is important, but if people can't imagine watching DH racing without one particular commentator then in what sense do they actually like watching DH racing? The paywall thing is more relevant for a niche sport and there is for sure a risk in cutting down an already small viewership. For me it's not a big deal because of everything else that comes with Eurosport/Discovery so I get all the Road racing, MTB racing, Alpine Skiing and Sport climbing that I follow for one subscription. But I can see how people who only want the one thing are going to be frustrated.
