4 Things We Learned from the Nové Město XC World Cup
@betsie: It still amazes me how competitive Charlie is, 20kg on Tom is no joke!
MvDP, just needs specific training to be competitive, I believe his ceiling is higher than all the current XCO crowd, he'll never dedicate the time to it unfortunately. Modern day road doesnt have anywhere near the same volume of anaerobic efforts, Pidcock gets away with it being significantly lighter and arguably better skills.
I would imagine if either MvDP and Pidcock fully dedicated a few years to MTB they would be winning everything by significant margins.
MvDP is just riding TDF for sponsors, im sure he enjoys the fact he has no pressure to win anything there and just going to enjoy a summer of fast riding in a great atmosphere on fantastic roads. With no GC riders on his team he only has to do a few hard pulls for his sprinters, rest of the days he can take as they come and do what he wants. You compare with his classics season where he is hyper focused on performing and winning.

Deadend? did you legitimately expect career progression working at a LBS? Its a lifestyle choice, anyone working in LBS for career progression shouldnt be working there.

Causeway Capital Acquires Whyte Bikes
Whyte hasnt really been founder operated for 20 years when Whyte sold it to the previous father/son owners who got out in 2020, maybe they were there at the start i dont know. It only really made money in 2020, 2021, before that it made 200-500k a year porfit. But these PE clowns over extended it with debts, now servicing all of that plus management charges they're bleeding £1m+ in fees and management charges. Made a 6m loss in 2023, imagine 2024 has been just as bad. Definitely some funny business going on.

Nino Schurter Announces Lenzerheide Will be His Final World Cup Race
true champion, wont be the same without him at world cups. I dont think think there will be anyone like him for some time.
too many get tempted by the road, tom pidcock should have given up this road malarky and taken over the mantel from nino, he could have dominated for as long as nino if he focused on MTB.
