It came on from out of the blue but at least she had a pretty darn good last last. She was with me when we went to the bank --- the people at the bank just loved Bailey. We went to the cleaners and the hardware store. Each time, as l got back into the truck she sniffed around wondering if l brought her anything from the store.
We went to the farm too. l had to get some lawn tools l had stored out at the farm so l brought her along as l so often do, let her run around like she so often did. She even had a chance to bark-bark-bark at some deer that were walking by in the field as we were leaving. l got home at 2:30, greeted the boys, back home from school, at 3:00. Somewhere around 3:10, right after the boys got home from school, she started acting strange. We thought maybe she just had an upset stomach so we let her outside, didn't think much of it. Within about a 30 minute window, we were at the vet's office and we saying our good bye's.
It was really rough on the boys --- super tough for me. Not only because my bestest buddy was gone but because the boys were so upset too. They just adored Bailey. She was a super cool companion. No doubt, she had some quirky and unusual things about her.. not your typical dog.
Bailey's final resting place is now at the farm... trailside. We built a nice little grave site near the house, just a few yards from one of the main tails we built for bike rides and hiking.
