why would you buy a high travel fork and then decide to lower it? just buy a shorter travel fork!
  • + 12
cause all short travel forks are not strong enough or the dont have very good internals. and no one makes a 80 mm fork. so stfu

all in all fox is just better

the weight of the damping fluid on the spring side makes no difference to the damping of the fork, it is there for lubing only

So I was lowering my fork and noticed the spacers where broken and the spacer that holds the travel spacers was craked in half. Anyone know what that spacer is called?
  • + 1
i just got a 2011 float 36 r, will this be the same way when lowering it? and for the spacers can you just use the normal white ones that come with any rockshox fork?
  • + 1
 yes and yes
  • + 1
sweet thanks a lot man, and what is the point of the FLOAT oil? is that necessary?
  • + 1
yes float fluid is nessisary, it is the lubrication for the fork. with out it you fork will drag and not be smooth + your fork will ware fatser
  • + 1
damn, where do you get the float fluid, can it be any other kind?
  • + 1
 your lbs or off line
  • + 1
there is none at the shop i work at.. i have some master oring lube tho, will that be fine? and whats the poind in pouring it into the fork what does that do?

I have a fox 36 talas rc2, I'm looking to drop it to 80mm. I know it's a air fork, but will it work the same? And I can't remove the top blue cap.

Just bought a '09 float now im super stoked I know how to lower it tup
  • + 1
There's no way to drop a talas fork?
  • + 1
not that i now of. they have travel adjustment on them. but other wise you have to get new internals
  • + 1
I've dropped my talas, after 5 hours of figuring out the system , I've finally succeed. IT's now dropped to 80mm. Without using float internals
  • + 2
 what you do
  • + 1
how do you do it to a fox float 32? same thing?
  • + 1
hey does this work with a 2011 Float R?(36)
  • + 1
where can i get the spacer ?
  • + 1
is it the exact same for lowering a 2011 or 2012 Fox 36 Float Fit?
  • + 1
To make it clear that is a rubber mallet not plastic
  • + 1
I have Rock Shox Argyle RC 2011, to lower is it the same sort of method?
  • + 1
Where can you get the fork lowering spacers?
  • + 1
Would this work on an 08 float 36?
  • + 1
 yes, any type of float
  • + 1
 Awesome dude. Thanks!
  • + 1

  • + 2

  • + 1
will this be the same for Fox Suspension 32 Float RL
  • + 1
 yes
  • + 1
Do you know where to buy the spacers online?
  • + 1
 you guys kick ass man
  • + 0
do you know if this method would work on an 09 36 TALAS?
  • + 1
No, talas has a spring that needs to be cut
  • + 2
 ok thanks
  • + 3
EDIT: A VAN needs to have the spring cut. the TALAS assembly is designed to do travel adjustment on the fly. no lowering necessary
  • + 2
i know i can travel my TALAS on the fly, but I want it at 140 or 150, not 130 or 100mm... any ideas?
  • + 2
You cant... you will need to change your talas assembly into a float.
  • + 2
can the float internals be purchased directly from Fox Racing Shox?
  • + 3
 yea but there $$$$$
  • + 1
man, take your talas, get talas air valve and pump the talas chamber more or less to make your fork run lower or higher. i had a leaking talas chamber but it was pretty sweet in the sence i could run my fork at 80mm, 110mm and 140 hha
