Solo Ride on Moose Mtn.
Better Version Here: http://www.vimeo.com/10885740
day of firsts...1st run of the season, 1st run with my new Go Pro, 1st run down Shoulda, 1st crashes of the season... I was experiencing some gnarly brake fade on Billy Dog, hence all the stopping. For the record, i dont smoke the ganj, i just dig that song :)

Nice man! Shoulda is a blast eh??? I got introduced to that one last fall (last ride of the season) That Sum 41 tune fit the video on that trail nicely! Billiy Dog is sick. I rode it last Father's Day and it was nice and loamy. Must of been the amount of rain we had last June, set it up perfectly. I hope it gets that way again. Next time you go, shoot me a pm and I'll meet you. Even if it's before May 15th and the gate isn't open yet. I've never pushed up the road, so that should be interesting...

haha i'll definitely pm you next time! i was thinking about it but i didn't actually decide i was going to go until that morning. i need to fix a few things on my bike before i go again (such as new brake pads and a bleed!) and you would be surprised how hard it is to get time to work on your own bike when you work in a bike shop! i rode billy dog in october last year and it the conditions are exactly the same now as they were then, dusty and loose, at least the top, then the bottom is butter! the hike up moose road is super easy but man is husky road tough! i was so close to just giving up and riding down the road probably like 5 times and since i didn't know exactly where the trail head was i didn't know how much longer i could take it.

Cool vid. I really need to get out there!
I'm amazed there's no snow through the cutline on Billy. This time last year, it was waist deep.
The "feature changed" sign at 4:45 can probably come down and the lazy builder should probably get off his ass and do something with those three jumps that are ready to go.

That "Shoulda" trail looks like a real great warm up trail, but it's not on the MMBTS map, and having only been out to Moose once, I'm still not all that familiar with the place. Can you help me out with the location of the trailhead?

its not on the mmbts map because its not actually on moose mountain so it's out of they're jurisdiction. when you turn onto canyon creek road (ings mine) from 66, immediately to your left there is a gated road. this is husky road. the trail is approx. 2k up and drops in on the left side of the road.

billy dog is insanely dusty and loose right now, only the one icy patch before the hip basically, word is jean guy and toothless are mint too. and canyon creek is dry as a bone which i was astonished at. shoulda was AMAZING!!! such a fun trail, SO flowy! and yeah i went by myself cuz everyone is lazy and doesn't like to earn their vert haha. and yeah i just got the go pro on saturday haha. i'm probly gonna sell it and get an hd one though.

well i tried riding up pnuema from the bottom but that failed so i hiked most of that until the 2k mark (sulfur springs) which took longer than it would have to hike up the road. then i rode and hiked the rest of the way so it took me about 45 mins or so to get to billy dog then like an hour up husky road which is too steep for my dh cassete to pedal up and stays that steep the whole way up so all hiking.
