I did the same thing but with a rock on south mountain, and bent my spindle and crank-arm...

Bummer, South Mountain is not a great place to catch a pedal (or deraileur!). We'll be coming down to Phoenix at some point this winter to get some dh in.

Left pedal clipped a small, 8 or 10 inch tall stump. Had no idea it was even there.
