I have done no colour correction on these clips, just trying to get rid of warping and it's annoying the hell out of me because i can't do it

It seems like 90% of the people who get twixtor don't quite get that it works well in certain situations. And flat out doesn't work in other situations.
I'ts not working because you're object is traveling (or your background with respect to the object) is moving very horizontally (or vertically). You can't warp vectors with horizontally/vertically moving objects.
What you CAN warp, is an object that is coming towards the camera flying through the air. Why do I say this? When your rider is riding towards the camera, the object litterally is barely moving in the frame, thus you can warp the image w/out artifacts.
Watch that BMX video again, look at when he applies the motion vectors. He does it at points when the rider has stopped moving in the air, or while he's at the peak of his trick. Like a BMXer at on a half pipe, you can't warp him when he's moving side to side, but what you can do is warp him right at the peak of his trick right when gravity is about to bring him down.
Twixtor is a way to cheat an image, otherwise it looks like garbage. I don't use twixtor I just use Avid's fluidmotion in the timeline and that works really well. If I'm editing and I realize taht a take cuts off too short, I'll just warp it so that it looks like it's normal, then cut to the shot I want. I use it ALOT and for other things instead of creating slow-motion. Although I have given it a go here: www.pinkbike.com/video/176940
